Would it hurt anything to run Exxon 89 octane in my car with a superchip, I have run nothing but 93 since I got the chip in May, and I was wondering if I could run 89, knowing that the chip calls for 91 to be used. Think it will hurt anything, I am thinking 93 might be too high of an octane to run. And another question, with higher elevation (roughly 3500ft) would you need higher octane or lower octane to run a chip? I am thinking lower becuase you are getting less oxygen. Thanks guys

I sure hope you get some kind of reply to this question. I asked the same thing about a month ago (I'm at 4200ft elevation) and didn't get a single reply. By the way, I switched to 89 octane and haven't noticed any difference.

The chip calls for that to be used because it is programmed to run at best efficiency w/ the higher octane gas, and if you don't use the reccomended gas you will have some detonation. Not Good, stay w/ the 93
