Monthly numbers are not a particularly good indicator; nobody's buying cars right now. But the Fusion's sales are pretty impressive out of the gate.

Focus is doing better than I expected; it's still down a bit from before, but moving 165,000 units is still quite good. It's likely to recover with the new appearance package and with the general trend towards more fuel-efficient cars.

I can't believe Ford wants to scrap the Freestyle in '07; 65,000 year-to-date is pretty strong. I'm sure Ford will move more when the 3.5 comes online.
Without all the incentives, the Focus is a pretty bad deal right now. Ford is only offering $500 cash back right now, versus the $1500+ you were getting before. This is compounded by the new small car offerings available from other manufacturers. There are just better cars available right now for the money.

No Rebates and an aging platform equal low sales...I don't think this should be a surprise.
I agree with the above post. This is 2005 and I would not buy an '05 or '06 Focus if I needed a new car.
For the money I'd rather get a 2006 Civic or Mazda 3.
Step up to refinement..Buy a Mazda3

I'd rather step down in refinement from my 2k with a 2k3 or 2k4 Focus.

The current rumor is that the Freestyle name gets moved to a new "People-Mover" based on a enlarged D3 (Ford 500) platform...basically a Minivan that isnt one. See the Fairlane concept for more ideas. Lincoln is also getting one also. Both are Larger then the upcoming Edge and Aviator, based on the Fusion platform.

The current Freestyle, will become a Mercury ONLY Product. See the Meta-one concept for that it will look like. Nice to see them get a different product then what Ford or Lincoln has for a change.

Um, they only sold ~9000 units, or roughly 108,000 per year, not 165,000. That was last year.

So many vehicles are just TANKING!

2.3 liters of refinement is all I need.

Uh they sold 164K units to date vs 181K in 2004, down about 10%.

At least the Fusion is doing very well..they only had 700 on hand when they started to sell them at the start of the month and they are expecting sales to be around what the Mustang has been pulling in month to month :-D
I can't believe they are still selling that many F-150's. My F-150 is a POS and I know of others having a lot of problems with them.
I love the Focus. Not pleased with how Ford has left the North American Focus fan in the dark with the evolution of the Focus in Europe.

It makes me sick.

Maby that is why in October 2005 I bought a Suzuki Reno instead of a Focus.

Are you sure about that? Have you ever driven a Mazda3?
If this has not proven the US wants premium compacts I don’t know what will. With gas prices rising all the other companies seem to have perfect timing to come out with there nice small cars like the scions, the new civic, new Jetta. Optioned up these cars are not cheep. The focus had its best sales before ford cheapened it, and had the recalls. When will they learn they are NOT competing with gm anymore, the caviler is not the focus’ competition. It’s the civic, scion, etc…which now completely beat the focus in almost every way.

The Focus was plagued with recalls from 2000-2001. That doesn't leave much room for "best sales" here stateside.

I'm looking at month over month sales, not year to date. Of course they sold a decent amount of Foci YTD, they were GIVING them away a few months ago.

Their current track is less than 100,000/year.

Bigger numbers built bigger amount of crap produced. If Ford was putting out say %5 crappy vechicles out of the F-series that sells say 900K thats like 45000 vechicles that will be crap!

Also your saying other people are having problems with them..is that on Internet message boards? Lets remember that people bitch more about their problems then at how pleased they are with the vechicle. Just look at the SVT Focus...now that was a POS

The recalls were not right when they came out; it was a few years after they were sold. The recalls on the 00-01 hurt 02+ sales. When ford fixed the recall issues they also took the liberty of cheapening the hell out of the car till we have what we have today. At this point I would give the car 1 extra bland make over and rename it. Make it the new fleet car and sell it cheep in volume, and then release the modern focus here.

When ford makes a car crap for fleet use why don’t they just rebrand it so it does not hurt the resale value of the consumer line? Then they could push the crappy old focus platform for fleet use, and still have a high value consumer line.

While I don't agree the SVTF to be a POS, you are completely right, sir.
My last focus was GREAT. Nothing but good things to say about it. But this is prolly the first post I've made to voice that opinion. Most who post about their own car is about problems, so it seems that they all are POS's.
