Oil Consumption???

I drive my car somewhat easy, about 30 minutes twice a day at 75mph in sixth and then about 1 redline a day, and after 2,000 miles on this oil change(I currently have 5,500 miles on my car) using Motorcraft oil right now, the oil started a little above the full line and now is slightly below the full line. Is this typical of the motorcraft oil, and the engine still being young? I plan to switch to Mobil 1 at 10,000 miles and when I have Mobil 1 in my old ZX3 it never used any, so my guess is dino oil just can't stand up to 7,000 rpm runs every so often, and that a little oil consumption is normal for high performance engines. What do you guys think or have noticed with your cars.

If a car doesn't use any oil at all before an oil change it's not being oiled properly.
yeah my car uses about 1/2 qt between changes(about 2500mi)
My car either came a quart low, or burned a quart during break-in. Might of burned a little after the first oil change, but since that second oil change it doesn't seem to burn any noticeable amount. This is with Mobil-1 and not just regular dino juice.
For reference, Ford, GM, VW, Toyota, Honda, etc will tell you that using anything less than 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles is "normal". I wouldn't be happy with that, but that's what they say.

Compared with every other car I've owned, the SVTF uses very little oil -- especially considering I run it quite a bit harder (I'm more used to V-6s, V-8s, SC'd V-8s...).

With ~20k miles on the clock, I'll use about 1/2 a quart between oil changes (3,000 - 4,000 miles).
I just turned 36k yesterday and cant say that I have noticed any significant oil consumption...
My car probably uses about 1/2 quart every change (5-6k), sometimes a little more. I'm using Mobil 1 5w-30, and have been using it since ~8k, now at 36.9k.
It seems that a lot of cars came from the factory low with oil. When I first checked mine after I noticed consitantly lowish oil p (sat right at 2nd lowest line, got just barely halfway to 3/4 line) the oil wasn't even on the dipstick. I had to add about 1.5 quarts before it was where it needed to be. Others have had similar problems.
To you using Mobile 1 do you change your oil yourself or do you have someone else do it? I would like to start using it but don't really want to start changing the oil myself, don't have a garage to change it in. I usually take it into Ford and thought about asking them if I could bring in my own oil for them to use, has anyone else done this?

Thanks for the input.
Just did mine for the first time over the weekend, at 3,500 miles - I think it probably used 1/3 quart, but I'll bet that's just break-in.

I will probably do them all myself, unless it's midwinter. I notice one thing about having the dealer change oil is that they always seem to want to round it off to the next highest full quart. My last car held 4.75 quarts, so that wasn't a big problem, but my wife's 2000 Passat holds 4.5 (and the VW dealer did overfill it), and now this car holds 4.25, so if they put in 5 - that's a little too much overfill for my comfort.
I have 26,000 and use nothing but redline, and if I am driving my car, I am beating on it, and it consumes very little to no oil, its not noticeable on dipstick anyways.

I do it myself, and it costs barely over $20 if there's a Walmart nearby. 5-qt jugs are like $18 or 19, filters there are ~3. It's really not that tough, and only takes about 15-20 minutes. Of course, if you have it changed to synthetic by a shop, the cheapest I've seen is like $50. Belle Tire charges closer to $70 around here!
