Depends on what Ford recommends for your engine (sticker under the hood). I think for the '02 SPI ford recommended 5w20. If you just got the car, you can try synthetic but people usually recommend going with what you've always used. I'm partial to Mobil-1 myself (synthetic) but in my Escort I've had good luck with Castrol GTX.

 

Serisouly, buy any oil with an SM spec and rest happy you have a quality product.

Use whatever you want. Whether it's Dino or Synth. All I'm gonna say is, if you do use Synth, make sure you it for an extended amount otherwise you're just wasting your money to me. The best way to know what kind of oil is right for you is to use it.
