Right after I got my Focus a very elderly man mistook his gas pedal for the brake pedal and accelerated into my new ZX3 rather smartly while in the Burger King drive-thru. In that my car was one of the first ZX3s in WA (probably anywhere for that matter), parts were not yet easy to come by so the car was scheduled to be in the shop for 1+ month. So, the guy's insurance company arranged a rental through Enterprise, then the only company that would rent to an 18 year old. The first car issued was a 1997 Ford Escort. Though it had only about 20,000 miles, it felt as though it had 200,000 miles. I finally threw a fit when the brake pedal went to the floor and began refusing to build pressure in the pedal. Aside from its abuse-related mechanical woes, I found the Escort/Focus to be like night/day. Such a profound difference for two cars made by the same maker for the same market.
They finally gave me a nice new CD silver ZX3 auto.
My dealership won't ever give me another rental car, speaking of loaners. While a recall was being addressed I was loaned a silver wagon. Well, I was running late for school one day and stupidly took a rain-soaked turn too quickly. Still relatively inexperienced, as soon as I realized I was going too quickly I jammed on the brakes and skidding up over the curb at around 45 mph. Screwed the car up quite badly, and starting a mild fire in the front end area.
