old 00 ZTS Focus Sedan

Hi,

Could somebody give me a suggestion for a suspension upgrade for an old 00 ZTS Focus Sedan ?

I look more into the comfort side, rather than sportive approach. I also have to consider the snow factor, and very bumpy roads (as per Montreal area...).

I was considering the Eibach kits, but I am looking for more specific suggestions or alternatives. I will appreciate any links for supplyers, I need to do this upgrade NOW, not next spring... THANKS!

Hi,

You would be astonished at the level of comfort -AND- control the SVT Suspension Kit delivers.

$250 at most [FJ]focaljet sponsors.

Eibach's kits are decent, but cost more and may drop you too much for your winter concerns.

If you want some money left over for some great winter tires, then go with the SVT Kit.

SVT kit is very nice. I would deffinitely steer clear of the poly bushings if you want comfort.
Thanks for the answers!

But do you think that the Eibach Pro are lowering too much for winter, by 1.5" ?

I can get the Eibach Pro kit for 350$+shipping, the guy says they are new, it's very tempting...

Actually, what's the difference between the SVT kit and the Eibach Pro kit (except for the price)?
The SVT kit is higher, and more comfortable. It also handles exceptionally well. The Eibach kit is a nicer-looking drop, but will be rougher over bad pavement. Its spring rates have a tendency to understeer, but it can handle fairly well when paired with the Eibach sway bars.

Also, make sure to check if that's an Eibach Pro-kit you're looking at, or the Pro-system. Despite the name, the "kit" is only springs. You "system" includes dampers, which you will need sooner or later.
You'll be fine with the Pro-Kit in Montreal. I have the Progress springs (1.8") and Eibach Pro-Dampers. It's not great in the snow but it is fine. I drive my car all winter.

Plus, you're Canadian, driving in snow is second nature for use.

I was tempted by the Eibach Pro KIT... and yes, I want to change the dampers as well. I have to admit that the word "kit" was misleading (for me)... If there are no dampers included, probably the price difference will count.

I'll start reading some more oppinions about those SVT kits, as the roads are very bad around here, plus the snow. I would love to use Eibach, but the reality makes me think more...

I love your fast feedback, thanks!
im thinking of doing the same and i have the Sony edition sedan so is that the same as the 2000 zts?? What comes with the svt kit and will i notice a handling upgrade from just that, thinking of 17s for summer too and i know adding that helps handing over stock 15s.

All North American Ford Focuses from 2000 - 2005 share the same suspension; the difference being the wagon. The rear springs are shorter and the rear shocks mount differently; they may be shorter as well...

What comes with the svt kit

Four coil springs, two front struts, two rear shocks, four urethane jounce bumpers which fit coaxially over the four dampers (shocks & struts), two strut-top nuts and a 21 mm rear sway bar.

Ever hear of a Ford Focus SVT?

How well it handles; how much the magazines like Automobile, Road&Track and Car and Driver RAVE about the handling and handling balance???

You are correct, Sir.
