What cams (other than CAT's) are a good match for the Ford Racing head package's flow numbers. I'm am looking for a nice balance of torque and HP all throughout the mid and upper RPM range. The CAT stage 2's are very appealing but Im just looking for other options.

Well using my limited knowledge of cams, the Ford Racing cams wouldnt optimize the heads power.

Quoting Travis from a previous thread (which you were also and active participant in Ult) "a good set of cams would probably be around 252 @.050 and 236 @050 or 244 and 228 or 228 and stock exhaust"

Yet none of the FR cams seem to meet these profiles:

M-6252-A201 Lift .374 int .366 ex Duration 232 int 228 ex
M-6252-A202 Lift .374 int .374 ex Duration 232 int 232 ex
M-6252-A203 Lift .390 int .390 ex Duration 240 int 240 ex

Soooooo any other options that I am unaware of???

yeah ford racing cant get their cams and head 2 work 2gether in great manner......

if u want balance, then go w/the proven cams used w/this head....which've displayed a great and broad power band....the cats. still the FRs have proven well themselves.

The specs on the M-6252-A202 I lift is .382 and E 374.
I like the off ground cams setup for this head. If you are keeping the RPM down in the 6500 to 7000 these cams make a good range of power. We have these going together in a car now I will have numbers in a few weeks.

I was talking about the cams from crower. using the b1591 Intake cam with the b1589 Exhaust cam or the b1590 intake cam with the b1588 exhaust cam or the b1589 intake cam with the stock exhaust cam. The camshaft peaks starting from the largest to the smalles are 9200 rpms (with properly tuned runners I/E) 8600 RPMS (With runners/exhaust) and 8300 RPMS (with runners/exhaust) This setup should yield between 200-240 at the wheels depending on what else you have done and what cam you go with. All three of these except the 228 cam should yield you easily into the 200`s NA. Intake timing is very important and a big compression ratio jump is needed too. Big cams drop your dynamic way down. And the 252 @050 is about as large as you can go without going to a bigger base circle. You can order your set for less then 500 im sure thats what its published on the website with but i got my set for 325 youd just have to ask around

BTW the Ford racing cams are tiny compared to the Crowers. its all about where you want your peak to be at. The biggest set of ford racings should peak at about 72-7300. The crower cams flow alot dont buy them unless your read for the rev limiter to come off.
