im too poor and busy to do anything like this, but its fun to think about, and maybe gives me ideas for the future...but would the 2.5 V6 out of the probe work well? not as in would it mesh with all the components, but would it be worthwhile? i know power doesn't compare to the SVTC 2.5, but it was built by mazda right? was this engine as good as the 1.8 DOHC that was in the escort GTs of yore? ideas are appreciated, but remember im not doing this, so dont flame and ask "WHY??"

I believe the PGT engine was built by Yamaha for mazda. If not Yamaha, it was some other Japanese maker. I don't think it's a terribly well-regarded engine. And it's stock rating is around 164hp, still shy of a stock regular (non-SVT) contique/cougar 2.5L Duratech. Plus that PGT engine hasn't been made since the probes died in 97, so you'd get a much newere duratech. I'd stick with the duratech's, IMHO.

Cheers,
Scott.
