Has anyone done this? I plan on doing it because our state plates colors suck compared to my cars color, infrared( the plates are like light blue and some other crap). So I want to paint it. How would I do it? Since they feel really slippery I figure I would have to do something to make the paint stick? Where could I get a good paint to use?
I'd say i'd probaly want the plate white and the numbers infra, or the plate infra and the letters white or black?
What color combo would you do and how would you go about doing this? All opinions apreciated.
Thanks,
Cole

I for see many of fix it tickets.....
If you really dislike your plates I'm sure your local tag agency has some different kind of tag you can purchase, like a sports theme or some charitable society. Maybe you can find something more to your liking...

Yeah, its probaly not legal but whatever.
With a blatant disregard for the law like that, why not just take the plate off altogether?:rolleyes: Either check to see if your state has any sort of alternate plate that better "fits" your car or else deal with it, bud.

I know people paint their plates.
I would love to paint my plates. MN plates a fricken upgly. I'm so glad I have a really nice car, and then I throw loons and acouple puddles onto the plate of the car. Sexy...hahah j/k.

But just leave your normal plates, and paint a JDM or EDM set or something. But I don't see anything good out of painting your plate for street use.

BTW, black plate w/ red....

In FL right now we have something like 60+ tags you can pick between .... and the cops are starting to have a REALLY hard time spotting and recognizing which tags are instate and which aren't anymore because of it. Now imagine if they let everyone run around with custom painted plates ....

You say whatever if it is against the law .... just keep us updated after you get that first ticket for it.

BTW, here is a list of all the specialty plates in Arkansas:

EDIT: After checking ... Florida has 86 tags to choose from!!!!

GA has like 80 you can choose from.

Wildlife, Breast Cancer, Cycling, Any college team at all, etc.

That explains why when i went to florida to visit my dad i noticed that every car had a different plate design. FL ftw!
I was wrong, it's actually 87 counting the standard issue plate, which comes in three different varieties

I think Oregon has, about, 3 different plates... Im just guessing by what I have seen. Is it against the law to use black paint to tint a peice of film to cover up the plate. Just enough so it maches my tinted windows, yet also is visible to an extent?

From my understanding of the law here .. it is illegal to in any way decrease the visibility of you tag. The same way it is illegal in any way to modify you headlights. Some do it and never get hassled for it. Some don't make it out of the driveway. But if you do it ... and get popped for it ... don't come on here crying about how the officer must have been grumpy because he was out of donuts.

I guess people in other countries may actually be retarded enough to be proud of American parts on their cars :dunno::lol: I still wanna get an old beater CRX someday and get a Japanese plate that says "RICELOL" :arr:

What does the number of tags have to do with it.....

When did they stop teaching cops how to read???
Well, those that would be willing to run around with painted tags would also be the type that run around with tags not properly located or illuminated. So you let me know if you can read a tag from a couple hundred feet away, during a high speed pursuit, that isn't illuminated properly ... and quickly distinguish if it is an instate plate or not. If you can, you get a cookie.
