painting lights to warm up body panels for dent removal?

604 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  focusspelledbackwards
i'd like to take care of a few dents before my next G2G, and i was planning on doing the dry-ice memory trick. the problem is that it's getting cold and i don't know if i'll be able to warm it up in the sun. can i use painting lights to warm it up enough without damaging the paint, or will that be too hot?

You know, I've been too busy to see if this works yet, but I was thinking of using a hairdryer to heat up the metal first. I have no idea what the extreme tempreture change would do to the paint. I promise that when I do this thing, I will post up and tell y'all how it worked. Or if it didn't.
cool, i think i'm going to try the paint light thing because it won't heat it up really fast. i'll also post details. now to find some dry ice!
I don't think the problem is in the heating up process, but in the immediate cool down, if you know what I mean. Also, because of the time of the season, you can probably find dry ice at your neighborhood grocery store. good luck.
