Good Lord thats a beautiful car. If they would ever send that over here to the states what do you think it would cost?

#4 ·
it'd probably be around 28K over here, based on C30 stats and the class of car it would run with, like the RSX and such.

#5 ·
What do you think the chances are that it will make it over?

you guys should venture into pit stop once in a while. there are several threads on this very topic right at the top of the page.

Holy crap does that car look good or what?

Article says the side gills help move air around the car...serious? I like EVERYTHING about this, the rear exhaust looks BIG, nice interior, hood vents, it's not green, plenty of power and I hear it might handle ok. Can you say revo-knuckle?

Just like with the original, even the lads over on FFOC are over the top about this car. There's some pretty hefty talk out there about the possibilities of this beastie. Now, if a certain company would wake up and smell the forums, they could seriously sell some of these.

you might think they would be able to sell them but at their price range in the states (probably around 28K, if not higher) people will undoubtedly turn to the japanese counterparts except for the Ford die-hards and all the guys on these forums. i would kill for one but i fear i'll have to move to europe or find a way to import one from mexico.

on the other hand, the MK3 euro version will be in the states in 2010 and it will be exactly the same as the euro model. so it should be fairly easy to import euro parts and do a build up on the standard hatch (engine, suspension, body) though it will be quite expensive.

one could set himself up as an importer for when they come to the states and make bank on bringing parts over from the EU.

I agree, until people saw actual reviews and test drove one....and watch the Top Gear (when it comes out).

But remember how it wasn't easy to convert a Mk1 US Focus to an RS. Not sure how much different the new RS is over the standard models......

Part of that had to do with ford using two different platforms for the cars. the 2010 model is suppost to be a global platform which should make upgrades much easier.

Plus, if I remember correctly, the original RS was four wheel drive. From what I've read the new RS will not be four wheel drive.

The Mk1 Focus was a global platform as well. The difficult parts about converting a US Focus to an RS are cutting off the old and welding on new quarterpanels, and replacing the crash bars front and rear.

The original Focus RS was front wheel drive.

Guess I was misled by one of the articles I read on the new RS that said the new one wouldn't have four wheel drive like the original.

Goes to show that just because "it's on the internet" doesn't necessarily mean it's true.:dunno:

^Well original plans for this RS at least considered using AWD. But they finally decided on FWD.
But why all this talk on converting this and that? The world is supposed to share the focus in a couple years. So that means either Europe suddenly gets its performace Foci ripped out from under it -OR- we get something tasty.

It doesn't mean much of anything that might be different from when the Focus was originally introduced in 2000. It was a global platform then, and it will be a global platform in 2010. We didn't get the RS here in the first place, why would we get it again? I'm sure we'll eventually have an SVT model of some sort, but I'd be (happily) surprised if we got something as well put-together and competitive as the RS.
