Motor Trend's shootout between the new charger and the "bullet" mock up mustang spoke directly to this. The writers begged for no one to do it, guess it should have been expected.

I gotta give Chrysler props for being so successful with this platform, but I would have left it alone with the 300 and the Magnum. A third car is a biiiit much. It's too distinctive a design to have such badge engineering

I couldn't agree more. If I'm gonna spend that kinda money on a car from Chrysler, I'm gonna go ahead and get a nice 300 since it's the same damn thing as the 'Charger.'

Badge engineering? I think not. Taurus/Sable is badge engineering.

 

Ok I knew you or someone else would chime in with that, yes it's not like they just switched the grille

...but nonetheless, it's clearly the same damn car in all 3. they just switch up the lights and the quarter panel trim, etc, but it still looks the same.

 

Jared, there is not one single body panel the Charger and 300 share, not even the roof panel.
