Indeed, but it is a Duratec aluminum block engine so why not just call it what it is.

yah... makes sense, I was just wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me. I can't wait to tkae delivery of my car... I really want to see if this engine is as smooth as it sounds
Ford is now refering to the PZEV engine as the Duratec 23E, and the Duratec 23 is going to be everywhere really soon. So we figured we might as well get with the times.

I wonder what differences will be there? Probably the chuffin' gearing will be better on the non-E models. Course...i could start looking for one of those as soon as they're out.

Direct quote from the Ford media website: "All 2.3-liter Focus models in 2004 are identical to the Focus PZEV. They share the same emissions hardware, fuel system components and powertrain calibration. However, the emissions are slightly less clean outside of California because of that state's unique fuel formulations. "

I wonder how they achieve that?

Our pump gas is really expensive and you don't see anything higher than 91 octane for the most part.
...Doesnt Cali use the MTBE (or whatever it is) crap year-round, also?? ...The stuff other states put in for the winter...

We have that crap in Maine too...i have a nice MTBE free tank of gas from NH in my car right now that I'm loving. The engine just likes it more i think.

Yeah...I can usually tell when they make the switch here in NY, cos my mileage usually goes down 3-4 mpgs...
...And it really sucks, cos we have like 10.573 months of winter here...
