Question about the 2004 Freestar Sport foglights

My dad recently bought a demo 2004 Freestar and I was showing him the controls. I was explaining to him how the headlight switch works "1 click right for parking, two for lights then pull for foglights".

So I pull the switch, doesn't move. Err, so how do you turn on the foglights? Look to the front, they're already on.

. Turn the switch left; they turn off. Look in the instruction book; there's not even a mention of foglights on the truck.

So it seems that the foglights are supposed to come on, and stay on ALL THE TIME when the headlights are on!

Is this the way it's supposed to be or am I missing something? (they're factory units, in case anybody's wondering).

Sometimes there is a smaller dial-type switch that wraps around the turn signal stalk that controls the foglights. I haven't been in a Freestar to see first hand, so I'm just offering a suggestion on where to look.

First thing to do is check the owners manual.
No, first thing to do would be to read the whole post before answering

Second thing would be to ask the people who know about cars & Fords; so I'm posting here.

Final thing would be to ask someone who doesn't know anything about Ford, or cars for that matter: the Dealership.

my 98 had a switch for fogs that was mounted under the radio, next to the defroster and all that garbage.

that was 6 years and (supposedly) a chassis ago, tho.

Dose the freestar have fog lights? Or dose it just have CORNERING lights. They look like fog lights, but they turn on when you make a turn to light up on the side of the car. Most minivans have this instead of fog lights.

Base don't have anything.
Sport have foglights.
Limited have cornering lights.

I'm pretty sure Ford just wired the fogs in series with the headlights to save costs. I'll check out a dealership today if I pass near one to confirm (my parent's car is 300km from me right now).

They probably don't call them foglights either, since most states/province have laws prohibiting the use of foglights when they're not necessary.

Thanks all for the replies!
