Questions, possibly SVT related, maybe not

I have a bone stock 03 SVTF, and I am curious about a few things. I am not sure if my questions are SVT specific or Focus stuff in general.

1. I found this on www.focushacks.com that you could put the key in the ignition, and by pressing the tripometer button, and holding, you could do various gauge testing, codes, etc. I found the one that does a full gauge sweep. Is there anyway to make this happen every time I turn the car on? After doing the gauge sweep, I saw that the tripometer said "gage" and didn't show an active trip until I turned the car off, and back on again. Is that normal?

2. I read somewhere on the net that you could take the keyless entry remote, and "reprogram" it? I cannot remember where I saw it, and I did search. It said that if you held down the lock and unlock button, it would turn off the double click to unlock the passenger door. Is this right? I tried it, but nothing happened. Anyone know how to do this? I find it very annoying.

3. Are all the SVTF gagues silver faced? Did any SVTF's come with white faced gauges?

The range on the FOB is very limited...I'd estimate 50-75 feet max. So if you're looking for your car in a parking lot, you'll still need to be close, I know I've tried it!
Hell, I get about 10~20 feet on both of my sets.

My guages are silver. Or Titanium, there's no doubt about it

As far as the range of the keyless entry system, here's a little brain tickler for you.

I originally owned a 2001 SE Sport sedan until about 2 months ago when I traded it and bought my SVTF. My old sedan, I simply could not make the keyless entry work more than 12 feet away. I changed the batteries, I had the dealership check it out, nothing. This situation was constant from the time I got the car in March of 2001 until I said goodbye in October of 2003.

Now, my SVT is parked halfway down my driveway in our turn-around. I live out in the country, so my driveway is probably 200 feet long. I can use the remote entry from at least 75 feet away, because I can unlock/lock/alarm from my front porch without issue. I have not attempted to use the feature from farther than that, but it's a good 70-80 feet and it works everytime on both sets of keys.

Go figure. I can't explain it, but I sure as [censored] won't argue about it. It's much more convenient.

For kicks, I'll some checking when I get out of work today and see just how far I can take it.
