I'm talking current, water-cooled Dubs.

Who here is a fan?

I am. I actually almost bought a ridiculously clean 1997 VR6 GTI with 33K miles on it before I got my first Focus. Unfortunately, the dealer wanted about $1000 more than I was willing to pay, so I bought a new Focus for $2000 less.
I'm a fan, but can't say that I would buy one. The new designs for the Jetta and Passat don't speak to me, I like the older ones. I really wanted an R32 but they didn't come out fast enough. The new GTi looks promissing, but I haven't seen one in person and obviously haven't driven one. I think VW is loosing touch with it's original base, just when it seemed they were getting it right, they took a wrong turn IMO. I don't count them out, and therefore I'm still a fan, but I didn't even consider VW in my latest car purchase.
I am a fan as well, am looking at R32 as a future purchase

Wait a year and the R36 should be out.

By the way
to the VW. I want to get the V10 TDI Touareg.

Heh... thought of an R36 makes me feel funny in the pants.

In a good way.

I'm a fan of the Golf/GTI. Wanted a Mark III Jetta too. I loved the look of those things!
You know I am.
When r we goin to Pismo in the Phaeton?

that was easier than retyping

I like the idea of vw more than the reality of them right now. lot of people that I talk to just couldn't afford to keep them. taking them into the shop cost about $500 a trip and there were multiple trips per year.

<Hand up>

I'm a Golf fan, for sure... Jettas notsomuch.

...though I long for a 1.8T powered A1 GTI as much as a new one.

I'd roll a vdub
I'm also a fan, though I too don't like the general upmarket direction they're taking.

It's getting to the point where if I want an Audi I'll just buy an Audi. I'll take my VWs cheap and fun if you please.
Yep, Id take one.
I actually test drove both the 1.8t and VR6 GTI when I was shopping for a car. Ended up with the SVTF because it felt like it weighed about 500lbs less and was less money.

I have never been in a car that seemed as well built as a VW.
My Mom's New Beetle is a little tank. Everything fits well, nothing rattles, never been in the shop really (it's 2.5 years old), it's just solid. She absolutly loves it.

If the GTI had handled as sharply as the SVTF and cost about 3k less, I'd be on vwvortex.com right now.

I love my Focus and do not regret the decision, but man a GTI was a very close second.

I like the new Jetta's design, fresh, but safe. Maybe a little too safe, but still decent.
I don't really like the design changes of the '06 Beetle.
I Like the new base engine though. (I5 w/150HP)

Some of the roadster concepts that VW has produced has gotten my motor running. If they come out with a 2-door coupe or a roadster, I'll be giving them a real close look.
I want one of these:

Here.

Always liked VW. Learned to heel-and toe double clutch in a '65 Variant S.

Had a '70 Westphalia with dual Solexes on a 1725 cc bore kit.

But when the first GTI's hit the streets over 15 years ago is when I started to truly appreciate them. I've always liked a solid Euro ride.

EDIT: ^^^ What the hell is that? It's GORGEOUS!

Oh, how could I forget? I drove an R32 for an hour one Saturday last year.
Press car. Wasn't to0 thrashed.

I like VWs!

I've owned a couple of air-cooled, and very nearly bought a Jetta III when they came out.
My wife is drooling over the new Jetta.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a VW in the future!

I love the way they look but would never own one. My brother has an 04 A4 and the electrical problems seem to never end.
Pick me, Pick me!!!

Still waiting to see the Fifth gen GTi on the US streets! I saw one at WaterFest, they look great.

Owns what has not rusted away of a 84 GTi.
i'm pretty big on Vdubs lol........I was using a 87 GTI as a beater, that lil thing was soo cool though, handled nice, had good gas mileage and took a beatin and did great in the snow...I wish I never gotten rid of it.... : (
