I see that you can use the tranny from a 1990 2.3 liter Mustang. What about using the ATX from the 1990 2.3 liter Stang. I had a 90 Stang w/ the ATX w/ a 3.73:1 gears.

Yep,
All sorts of possibilities! One could even transplant the earlier Ford engines and drive trains onto a Focus body or you could put a Zetec engine into the older Ford cars.

What about making the Contour rear wheel driven?

And if it bolts up to the Zetec, then it bolts right up to the 2.5L Duratec/SVT Duratec... and then even more it will bolt up to the 99+ taurus engine the 3.0L Duratec. Many CEGers and FCOers have done the 3.0L swap in their CSVTs and SEs. Maybe you can make a rear wheel drive CSVT 3.0L!!! that would be sooo sweet. Unless it doesnt line up well to the rear axle, that would be the only problem I can see.

Also, just one mistake. The contour only came with either the 2.0L Zetec, or the 2.5L Duratec, there was never a SOHC version contour. And the Zetec was standard, not the Duratec
