After driving my girlfriends new mazda3 sedan, Im really wanting the hatch version. 2.3 and sexy as hell. Not to mention MS3, holy crap.

 

Save up for a 3 or MS3, or boost the Duratec FTW.

I think you would end up being fairly unhappy with the power out fo that Protege5 after driving around a Duratec Focus. I'd go ZX5 although a MS3 would surely be an upgrade.

 

I'm trying to hold out for a fiesta but I dont' think that's going to happen.

Suzuki Reno is worth looking at too. Lots of factory incentives on these.

I'd mod to keep it fresh. Replacing a car every year is expeeeensive (a little of a gamble too, since you're that much more likely to find one that was abused that you didn't notice right away). Mods can be purchased used as well if you're short on cash.

 

Buying used makes it much less of a loss, I do like the SX4, but that would be a few years down the line and by then I would be looking at a used Mazda3 or even a MS3 (Lord willing).

^^^LOL, I didn't say I actually end up changing cars every year, just that I get the itch to about every year. I wish I could pull that off. My last vehicle I did sell after a year, and I've owned my Focus for a little over a year now. I just should've gotten a manual ZX5. But I found a LG 2.3L hatch (even though it is an AT) and I couldn't pass it up.

Not around here, an 03 or 04 are usually around 12,000-13,000. But I do think that would be the ideal choice for me right now.

 

The only car I would consider trading my Cougar in for would be a Mazda 3 hatch with the 2.3 and the "tiptronic" thing. Mazda 3 FTW.

Protege5's are great little cars. Fun to drive, and quick. But, you start out with 96 whp stock.

I'd go with a Mazda3. 138 whp stock, 150 with intake and exhaust alone. Not to mention one hell of a fun car
