Las Vegas Motor Speedway in April . I've driven that course and it's fun. The entire set-up there is top notch.

The Rule links don't seem to be working.

Go over to TimeAttackForums.com... Alan copied and pasted the txt, but they're truncated links.

I really wish I had a budget to play... but I guess I'll just have to keep doing what I do best. Talkin about it!

I'm hoping to get a little more active in racing this season and wouldn't mind hitting up a couple of the west coast events if they have a novice group with instructors available since I haven't done much beyond racing cones around parking lots. There's also the question of what to drive: the blown Focus, the Cobalt, or the Achieva. I was looking through the Redline rule book last year thinking about the classes and I'll have to take a look and see what changes they've made for this year.

A FI'd Focus instantly puts you into Street, which is an increasingly difficult class to do well in. If your Cobalt is an SS, that should do well in the Enthusiast class pending it meets the class requirements. The Achieva sounds interesting, but again IMO the Enthusiast class would be where to start seeing as street FWD is going to be dominated by some ridiculous cars this season and your limited track time.

Im not too familiar with the instructor situation however, but im sure someone here like Clint or Todd can enlighten us all.

I'm thinking if blackbird is new to the track scene, being competitive shouldn't even be on the priority list. Hopefully I can make it to a TA event this year and drive somebody else's car

I'm far from an expert as i have only gone to a few events but if the last event (dec 18th) by redline is any indication things are ramping up. not that in my opinion it was bad but they are now going to be having professional drivers on hand and a few other things.

I agree brad..... being a noob myself, its more about seat time than competition.

Two years ago the Redline guys had an HPDE type day on Saturday on the east coast with instructors, ect. Then Sunday became the Time Attack day.

90% of the instructors were local guys that came out to run/play.

There are getting to be more and more hired guns in the Redline game.

That's what I recalled which is why I was wondering if it will be run like that this season. I wouldn't mind just getting some seat time on Saturday and not even running the next day. From the end of season finals at Fontana back in November it did seem like it was moving more towards professional-only racing.

Hired guns aren't allowed in Street Tire or Enthusiast Class. Well, "hired" is OK in Street, but can't be a "pro", but in enthusiast, you must drive your own car... aka driver name must be on registration.

^^ yeah its not that crazy at all. when i have gone its alot of regular people just wanting to drive their car on a track. of course there are more "orginized" people there but i dont care i am out there to do my own thing and have fun. i will watch and see what they are doing to pick up some pointers but overall just run my own race.
