Hi Guys,
As many of you know my dad has been fighting liver cancer for the last few months, well today the fight ended. I got a call at work from mom saying they were taking dad to Hospice and I needed to get there, so I left work drove the 65 miles there and went in. When I got there he was still awake and talking some, they gave him some morphine to ease the pain, the morphine also caused him to relax and it looked like he was going to take a nap. All of a sudden he tries to get up to roll over, we thought he was reaching for the O2 hose. As he leaned he spit up blood and leaned back, I could see he was chocking on his own blood so I roll him over on his side and called the nurse. Apparently the morphine caused his muscles to relax and the blood was coming out of his stomach and lungs, it was probaly about 1/2 gallon. the nurse said it look as if he had internal bleeding for a few days. I stood there and watch my father die, I felt completely helpless. They said I did the right thing by rolling him onto his side, but there was nothing anyone could have done.

I'm gonna miss you dad, I love you so much

Sorry to hear about that man, I lost my dad almost three years ago in a car accident and I was 800 miles away. You're blessed that you could be there with him in his final moments.

i will keep your father in my prayers tonight - may he rest in peace. the fact that you were there with him at his time of death speaks volumes... i only hope that i am there for my parents when they pass. i wasn't for my grandparents and i deeply regret not being there for them.

Wow, That is the only time I have had a tear in my eye reading something. That is really hard. But it was really good for you to be there for your father.
I drove 30 min one way every day for a month to see my father in the ICU room and he pulled through but just to see the pain that they go through is crazy.
You and your family are in my thoughts. Keep your head up We are here for you.

My wife and I send our prayers and best wishes to you and your family. It is good to hear you could be there.
My wifes dad passed away while I was stationed in Japan. He had been in the hospital for over a year, and the Navy flew me home from the Midddle East to be with her and her family. But when he finally passed away, we had a shipboard emergency, and my wife had to fly home by herself for the funeral. I will always regret not being able to be there. I am glad that you won't have to. Even in the bad times, there are small blessings to find.
Our prayers and best wishes to you and yours, and I believe I can say on behalf of your extended Focalet family that we're all here if you need us.
