so who won in best of categories as well as raffles? i didnt stay long enough to see.

#3 ·
i dont remember all the places for the cars so I don't want to get anything wrong. as far as raffles go, I took home a really nice leather bag from Lincoln, a NASA/HPDE track day, and a pair of tickets to universal studios Hollywood. My buddy Anthony got the Exedy Clutch along with a NASA track day, a front strut tower brace, and a shirt ( i might have missed something)...If I can remember any of the other prizes/winners I'll post 'em up...

Best of the Beach - FocusSport - 2008 STC Coupe

Best Coupe - F2 2008 Coupe
Second Coupe - FocusSport 2008 SEMA Coupe
Third Coupe - F2 / Street Scene 2008 Coupe

Best Hatchback - Joseph Dane 2004 ZX3
Second Hatchback - Jason Hodges 2003 SVT
Third Hatchback - Ryan and Mark Lapp 2000 ZX3

Best Sedan - Jason Dovel - 2006 ZX4 ST
Second Sedan - Spyder Allen 2005 ZX4
Third Sedan - Sal Ceja 2000 ZX4

Carl has pics of all the winners, and we'll post them up just as soon as he's done sorting them!

Congrats to the winners! Hatchback literally was 1 vote between first and second, and second and third, and third and fourth. It was crazy close. Also, Best of the Beach and Best Coupe were seperated by only one vote. 24 votes for the F2 Car, 25 votes for the FS car. Those two cars were clearly the favorites of the show (as they should be.... they're both very VERY trick).

I've got the missing info in the car..... I'll post that up later.

I thought in hatch that Jason was 3rd and Lapp was second with Joe first.
The sun could have killed my memory though.

When I went up to get my Second Place ribbon I know I said that my title would not be changing.

Well, I lied.

Even though I have yet to win my class at a car show or FOTM, I really can't complain when I get second place in my class at Jetfest 05, FOTB 06, and FOTB 08 (there was no car show at Jetfest 2).

So thanks again for those who voted for me at the show and thanks to all of you who came up and talked to me about Sonic and let me know how much you like my car.

It is much appreciated.

I cannot believe how far you drive to get to that event. That's just amazing dedication to the cause. Or insanity. I can't decide which. ;)
When are YOU gonna make the haul? :p

If you kids hold it *at* Thunderhill and get Nikolas@Redline (or someone) to conduct a concurrent 2-day HPDE track event, well, I just *might* have to do that. Maybe not in July or August though.

I can see it now: "Focus-in-the-middle-of-nowhere" (FITMON) or "Focus-in-the-inferno" (FITI)

LOL yeah, I don't see that happening any time soon. But maybe we can get a small get together of FJ track rats together at Thunderhill in the future.

You NorCal peeps figure it out and keep us posted. Don't wait too long though. My shelf life for track days is going to hit the expiration date at some point and I'll be resigned to shooting for a personal best in the backyard time trials with my 6.5 HP Toro mower (sadly not even a riding mower).

I don't have money for another track day, but if there are enough people down for a gig like this, it is very easy to convince me to be there (and I just may force Mr. Mastercard to foot the bill :D)

Is October 4/5 too far away? That is the next NASA Norcal event. $159 for one day, $299 for both days. I may be able to scrape up some quarters.

LOL. You SOBs. I was thinking about next YEAR. Hah. My track day plans are set for this year (as is my budget), but I could plan for something in 2009. Hah. For me, this is a VERY expensive track day indeed, but potentially doable with enough notice to the household CFO. All the more appealing with a pile of other Focus folks. Might be able to talk a few locals to make it down there.

Maybe we can make something happen in early 2009 then. I wasn't really planning on going too soon either.

Sorry about that. I got hung up on this part.

I'll try not to take you so seriously next time ;) I may be out of the state that weekend anyways if I play my cards right and get really lucky.

I'm not like, you know, t3rminal. Just thinking that at my age, I will eventually become more of a tourist that a drivist.

It's especially true that there will come a time when road trips to CA are just too unpleasant for me personally (getting close already, particularly in Focustein). If I could afford to ship the car to CA, fly down, then cart it around to THill, Laguna Seca, and Infineon, well, then that's the way I'd roll. But, sadly, I cannot. So, if it happens, it'll involve a long drive and probably a midway overnight...and therefore, some PTO planning and familial consultation.

Edit: Oh, and about that timing, well, for those of us in the NW who would even think about driving down to THill, the Siskiyous can be pretty dicey right through to May and then startup again in October. See, it's tricky for us. Too hot, too icy, kids in school. Talking about June 20 to July 1 or Sept 1 to Sept 8. LoL. J/K, but only kinda. I guess a mid-summer thing would be best. Thank God I did not remove my A/C.

I vote for Laguna Seca in May if they have a date then. I think the Dez crew would be up for that.
Redmond, WA -> Thunderhill = ~11 hours
Redmond, WA -> Laguna Seca = ~15 hours

Phoenix, AZ -> Thunderhill = ~13 hours
Phoenix, AZ -> Laguna Seca = ~11 hours

One of you guys will have to give. :p

My personal suggestion would be Thunderhill. It will be cheaper, and is overall a much more enjoyable track. Laguna has the prestige, but doesn't have near the excitement level/fun factor of Thunderhill. Thunderhill also has a lot more track days and is typically less than half the cost of Laguna.
