Rev to 7k, shift to second, and WTF!!!

Whenever I step on it in first and rev above 6,000k RPM and try to shift to second I get nothing. The car just won't go into gear. I have shifted to second at 7k and had it work fine before, but it seems like now I can't get it to go into second at high revs EVER.

I thought it was my driving at first, but this never happened to me in any other car. Today I let my dad kick it in a few times and the same thing happened to him, just wouldn't go into second. WTF? Anyone had this issue with their SVT or know what might be wrong?

I forgot to note that my car shifts to second perfectly below 5,000 rpms. I have never had an issue shifting to any other gear than second.
I've heard of this before with the SVT... I think Belacyrf had this, but after an aftermarket clutch and flywheel were installed.
I think it was that the shift linkage cable wasn't aligned properly.
That ^^ Or The Syncros in the trans are going out.... My truck did the same thing no grinding.... just wouldn't go in untill I let off till about 4-5K RPMS.
try bleeding the master cylinder. possibly air in the hydraulic system.
Would it be possible that your rear mount has worked itself loose? I know that by adding the VF rear mount it helps to shift easier, so maybe if the mount's loose you'd have some serious problemas.
What's involved with aligning the shift linkage cable? Is this something I could do myself or would I have to take it to a shop?
Make sure you're getting it in the right spot. When I first got my car I would try and quick-shift to 2nd, pulling back and left, and it would always miss, pissed me off. My friend one time pointed out to just pull straight back, and not worry about hitting 4th, I did, and I've been nailing 2nd ever since. Apparently I had been pulling too far to the left and ending up in the reverse spectrum, by passing the notch.
I'm pretty sure its not my driving. I even tried shifting to second at a normal pace at high revs and it won't go into gear. I go straight down and I don't find second. Plus the same thing happened to my dad when he drove it.
I 2nd thefrush, make sure you aren't pulling it into the reverse lockout. Doesn't take much to get it stuck there on a hard shift.
just remember that all the shifting is going to be done simply by pulling down and pushing up STRAIGHT. It will fall right into place no worries. you should not have to pull left to right at all...
I know how to shift, its not my shifting. When my dad drove it the same thing repeatedly happened to him. Even if you creep up on 7k and try to shift slowly how you normally would at 3k it will not shift to second. I found a post on ff where some other people were having the same issue with their SVT, it could be a number of things.
Yea I had this problem... and you know what sucks??? I have no idea what fixed it. I had the shift linkage re-aligned twice, I checked everything I knew to check this all happened after isntalling a new clutch and slave cylinder. But for some reason after a while it worked itself out. I can shift at 7K now. Of course before when I had the problem it first showed it's face when shifting from 8K...

So I dunno if that had something to do with it. Just FYI, I took my car to Ford (the 2nd time I wanted to get the linkage checked) and they said it was fine. I even bought a new linkage cable. Nothing.. Good luck with that.

I had this problem on a different vehicle. Turned out to be clutch not releasing enough. A new clutch had thicker material and the stroke of the pedal was't enough to completely release it. The trans input shaft must slow enough to allow mechanics of the shift to happen. After the clutch wears down some the release is better and shifting becomes easier.

Like my previous post, I had this same problem when there was air in the hydraulic system. We bleed the system, added fresh fluid and I have had no problems since. Very simple will take 10 minutes. If it doesn't work then you lost 10 minutes and maybe a bottle of brake fluid. I think this is at least worth a try man.

I think I'll give that a try, thanks.
