I want to see what else you have in the stable. Whether it be your track car, auto-x slut, daily driver, family wagon or full on restoration.....post it up. Each month, I will select a car that will be featured and have homage paid for the hard work, time, money and good taste it takes to build a car or to find one that I find to be super freakin awesome.

Post Content Guidelines:

-Year/Make/Model of car and the year you acquired it.
-Try to sum up your build/car in a single post. I don't want an entire build history in back to back posts.
-Minimum of 1 picture, maximum of 5 pictures per post
-Mods list if you would like to share or keep it to yourself if you like to roll undercover, your choice.

How to get your post edited or deleted:

-Again, I don't want an entire build history in back to back posts. You can post a build thread in Rigz for that.
-This is not a banter or discussion thread. Of course, comments are welcome but if a discussion is necessary, please post your own thread for that so this stays on topic.
-I don't want to see your Focus in this thread. We have FOTM, Rigz and a plethora of other places you can show off your Focus.

One of my favorite things about FJ is our ability to appreciate anything that rolls. We don't limit ourselves to a single make or model to be enthusiastic about. Keep it cool, keep it clean, keep it on topic. Thanks in advance, guys/gals. ;)

So many to choose from!

I'll start with mah truck:

1998 Toyota Tacoma, 2WD/5 Speed, bought in 2004. It is the special package that came with the color-keyed front bumper and grill. It started off as a fun daily driver, but has turned more utility as time goes on and my needs increase. It is my primary hauler and tow vehicle, as I tow my Focus and many other vehicles all over California and sometimes Oregon.

These pictures are a little out of date, but it gets the point across:

2001-2004 Rear taillights and badges
Bug guard, running boards, mud flaps, arch trim all came on it.

Drivetrain:
Reflashed ECU
Gibson Exhaust (patched together recently due to its advanced age and lack of care/budget)
K&N Intake
3.73 final drive (from 3.42)
Detroit TrueTrac diff (helical, and awesome)

The wife's family truckster:

1997 Chevy Tahoe 2dr 4X4, bought in 2006... I think lol.

It's totally stock minus the steps and stereo. Only has 100k on it and runs like a champ!
In Tahoe,

My only other car, a 1985 Nimbus Grey Merkur (Mare-coor) XR4Ti. Purchased on July 7th, 2007 with 66,000 miles. She now has a hair over 75k and is a part time autocross car and full time fun street car.

Cleaned up and not even on permanent plates yet:

Isn't there a white car hiding in your garage?

Heres my entry :D:
1999 Mazda Miata (Bose/Leather/Sport pkg.).
Acquired about 18 months ago from a local autocrosser. Cut more weight here and there, added some back with bracing and safety equipment. Been having a blast DD'ing it and taking it to numerous autocrosses and now a couple of track days. Some people think the lack of power steering is difficult, but anything over 3mph, its actually weighted quite nice. Future plans include a new set of wheels, better brakes, fancy coilovers, more supportive seats, and WAY WAY down the line maybe a built motor with ITB's.

Love that little car. Nice and tail happy. Hey thats me in the passenger seat! That was at Candlestick Park...I remember that. It took everything I had to NOT put my hands up and squeal. That was my first time ever riding in a Miata and I instantly found the appeal.

You're holding out on us. This might be my favorite of the stable, but you have others. Do tell, neighbor. :D

#26 ·
So for those who may not know...this guy with the awesome British invasion in his garage is like 3 doors down from me. When Ryan and I were buying our house, we said to eachother when we saw the Morris and a few others..."Man...we need to drink beers with THAT guy."

You have a few more to share, but in due time. :D

The 94 will blow minds.

For a second I thought so too, but then random people began showing up at our open garage door. The fifth just last week that also has an FC RX7 and a Corvair that is a work in progress.

B to the Rad...your post is fine. :) I'm loving what I'm seeing guys, keep them coming!

1987 BMW 325is acquired 2010
Bought (very cheap) to be built into a streetable track whore.
I bought the car in S Denver. The battery was bad, the fan was missing a blade, the master cylinder was shot, the shocks were shot, the bushings were shot, it had a minidisk player, the passenger window was broken, none of the electrical worked, the AC compressor was seized, the tires were flat, but it ran.

Image

So I pretty much knew every single component on the car was tired and needed replacing. As I dug into the car more, I found it was in even worse condition than I thought. The pads and rotors were done. Every fuse was blown. O2 sensor was bad. So I started with the basics. Whatever was broken, I wanted to attack as a chunk and meet or exceed OE. Redline fluids throughout, stainless brake lines, new radiator hoses, etc. I always bought a couple more parts than I needed, just to help out the next project, whatever I may decide to tackle next.

Image

In true fashion with replace and upgrade, she got full poly bushings all around (engine/trans/suspension/subframe, etc). I also replaced the horrid wheel bolts with proper extended length stud conversion.

Image

I would take time away from the car, usually time or cash dependent. About a year ago I did a full tuneup on the engine (plugs/cap/rotor, timing/acc belts, coolant flush, etc) to prepare for a cross country trip I knew this heap wouldn't survive. Again, upgrades are necessary, so we found some more room for the tires/wheels I had purchased. To my surprise, she made it through the 6,000 mile trip (midwest, up and down the east coast, then to the west coast) without a single hitch. Even averaged ~27 mpg (kinda tough to figure since the odometer doesn't work).

The ultimate motivator to spend all my available funds was an invite to participate in a track day at Laguna Seca...the only track in California I had not yet driven. So, I spec'd out a set of coilovers for the car because I couldn't bring myself to drive on snow tires, or on a DONK setup. She needed more low. And in pure upgrade fashion, if it has huge wheels, she must have huge brakes.

Image

And here she is in current trim, pwning the corkscrew that is Laguna

Image

Hopefully the Queen will inform me if I need to cut back the word count.

Engine: Bone stock. I actually paid a lot of money to reinstall a catalytic convertor and stock air box w/paper filter for Cali Smog. Passed with flying colors.
Suspension: Full poly bushings w/M3 offset LCA bushings for more positive caster and 12mm shorter rear subframe bushings for near stock geometry with lower suspension.
500/650 #/in F/R ground control kit with rebound adjustable konis, rear race upper shock mounts, race camber/caster plates
Wheels/tires: 17x9et20 Rota Grid OffRoad F225/45/17 R255/40/17 Hankook RS3
Brakes: F Wilwood 6 piston on 12.88in rotor w/Hawk HT10 custom engineered by me (originally for honda civic) R Stock w/Hawk DTC70, stainless lines, ATE Super Blue
ICE: Pioneer head unit, 25 year old stock paper cone speakers, crappy 8" kicker tube sub & amp

Plans for future: swaybars, aero, much less weight (A/C delete, rear seats, etc), and way down the road turbo

And video at laguna getting passed by multiple porsche's, elise, etc

-lets see here, i ss i could always add to this thread... right now with the focus' blown eninge, im running 1 car, and got one car in" work in progress status. i believe this is the first time im showing the work in progress here, but alas lets get to the nitty gritty:

1st, we have the '86 Merkur XR4Ti :
Image

haven't done much more then just upkeep on it. right now I'm buttoning up a head gasket install.

and right now i bet a bunch of people are expecting pinky... the corolla... unfortunately, time, money, and a baby on the way has made me change directions. the corolla, was just too much to get to running status; so here is the replacement for the corolla. i give you...

my 1991 Mazda Miata. picked it up for $600 , needed basically just put back together, and fuel injectors. plan was to get it running, and sell it to buy a manual, since it is currently in automatic form.

well, as luck has it a local auto-xer had a 1.8l and a 5 speed for just $350 making it a way better direction then selling, and trying to find a good manual for what i could get that one sold for.

on the trip home:
Image

only mod so far, is a flyin miata stage 1 clutch, and the 1.8l, and manual conversion.. but much more to come, as i plan on making it auto-x/ driftable here soon
