Well, the time has come... Tomorrow im starting my roll cage in my 2001. Ill use this thread to post updates, costs and pics.

Cost so far:
Tubing-60ft- $361.61=DOM 1.75x.120, i know the wall is thicker but thats all i could get.

Just an exterior shot of my focus at an autocross with the racing slicks and wheels. (sep 13)

stock suspension on a rally car? i thought that would've been the first thing to go. will you have some proper rally stuff in before the gravel event? none the less it's awesome to see everything worked out. so many people talk about building a rally car but never follow through, let alone take it out and race. looked like you were having some fun in that video. used handbrake i presume?

Well since im pretty much broke.. I have to run what ive got. The stock stuff held up great, It was just worn out. What helped was when we had an off it bent the skid plate down lower, so the car was unable to bounce as much.

I do plan to get a good suspension setup, it will just take a while because of a lack of funds.

And I did have allot of fun with the handbrake. Made the spectators happy haha.

Awesome Matt!!!

It's badass to see this thing go from conception to race, and I applaud you. It's been a long journey. I'll make my way over there to see this thing in person one day.

In the mean time you could run some SVT stuff (shocks/springs) in lieu of getting the DMS/whatever stuff for a while.

I'd be willing to be if you put a nicely run feeler out there you could snag something for near free, since we all know the true costs of rallying. I have some stock Focus suspension stuff I would give you but I may keep it in case I ever sell the car. I'll mull the idea over if you want it.

Incredible! Nicely done Matt! Too bad I moved away from SC so I can't see it in person. Definitely do Sandblast. It's such a blast driving on sand and that's just from me working it and transiting the stages.

Great first rally!

WHOA! Decided to randomly get on FJ. Checked this thread. Here we go, update on the car:

I ran it in the 2011 100 Acre Wood Rally. 7th in class after a coolant hose melted on day 1, super rallied, day 2 went from last to 7th.

Then I went to NJ to build a 2011 Fiesta @ Broken Motorsports. Somebody then offered me 10k for the car so I sold it to a guy in PA who ran it at STPR. He is now trying to sell the car.

I spent the rest of the year attending all the rally's and went to Maine and every boardwalk on the jersey shore. (Sidenote.. Atlantic City Blows..). I plan to construct a new rally car this year. Sadly it will not be a focus. Havent decided yet on what exactly though. Its between an Audi Quattro, RS200 Kit car, or a Fiesta R2, or build my spare 88 Merkur into a Sierra Cosworth Rally car.

Basically that sums up last year!

Cheers,
Matt M.

As the newest owner of this car, second to the guy in Philly and third to Matt I wanted to bring some information back to everyone who'd like to hear.

The car was wrecked twice by the guy from philly who competed at stpr twice and a couple of rallycrosses. He dnf'd at stpr but kept the car together and now it has made it down to south carolina.

I picked up the car this past september and began to restore it and get it running properly again.
I went over every part and broke the trans case where the torque mount bolts into the trans.
Made a new mount for the trans and began to go through wiring until everything worked, the biggest pain caused by matt ever was how he wired the horn it works and it works awesome but he hid the fused deep in the engine bay.

I ran the car a couple weeks ago at Sandblast 14' and blew my radiator on stage 5 which almost ended my rally but I was able to get back in with the help of camera man who gave me his case of water. The car is now black and white and going through major reprep for rally wv and possibly hyperfest, I will try to keep this thread up to date.
