so i get my RS steering wheel. i get ready to install it on my 02 svt (with a boner, of course, because this thing looks friggin' sweet!) and i discover that it won't accept cruise control. i was a little upset, because the seller didn't inform me of this (and also because i paid a pretty penny for the thing.) anyhow, i wasn't gonna send the wheel back to germany, that would have been too much of a pain in the ass, so i decided that i was gonna make the cruise control buttons fit. i broke out the (insert heavenly-sounding music here) DREMEL and went to work. i had to grind down the rubber on the RS steering wheel where the cruise control buttons normally sit on the SVT wheel. see pics for more detail. getting them to sit in there just right was really challenging, having to pay close attention to not grind off too much rubber. overall, it was not that bad. the last step was attaching the wheel back onto the column, then the airbag/horn pad back onto the wheel, making sure the sensors were plugged back in. overall, i am definitely pleased with how this turned out. let me know your opinions.

regarding the misinformation - u should have been able to see that it doesn't take cruise. Plus I bet if you asked, he woudl have told you that...at least he told me when I asked him about it...

yeah i know i should have paid more attention to the picture of the wheel to see that it didnt accept cruise, but he did say that it would fit the svt, so i assumed that it would, without even thinking about it. now that it's on, i am over it, and everything is cool. you're right, i should have inquired...

Well, I'm in the same boat as you. I never noticed that the Focus RS steering wheels don't have cruise control. So I got mine last week and went to install it and, oops big surprise. I didn't have time to modify mine so I reinstalled the original. Finding this post was a god-send. I do have a few questions for you though. What did you use to mount the cruise control mounting bolts to? The stock wheel has some nutserts, did you reuse those or insert new nutserts or just screw into the rubber on the RS wheel? Also it looks like you had to trim some of the leather to get the cruise control pods to fit, is that correct? Any other tips you can offer would be most heplful. Thanks again for the post.

yeah i unfortunately had to trim some of the blue leather away, but it can't be noticed unless you are underneath the steering wheel. i had to thread some holes into the wheel base where the cruise ctrl bolts go. the installation was a pain in the ass, but it was well worth it, considering all the compliments i get on it.

yes i have the blue inserts, and although it isnt an exact match, it totally looks natural. i get "wows" all the time on the combo. i will try to get some pics up later.
