running rough and smelling gas...wtf?

If you can't read the CEL because you don't have an OBD II reading device (like an XCAL), you might want to peruse the focushacks.com information for pulling codes off your dashboard odometer--although it's by no means comprehensive, and it's slightly more time consuming than just plugging in a reader to the OBD port, you might be able to start that way.

And, if it starts to have trouble once it warms up, x2 on the possibility of a bad 02 sensor.
