Anyone ever done/know anyone who has ever done a 12a to Gen 2 13b (NA) swap?

My friend bought a 83 7, with blown Apex Seals, and picked up a 87 13B, with ecu, wiring harness, and tranny.

It looks like it should be a pretty straight forward swap, take the front cover of the 12a, put it on the 13b (mounts and engine accessories), and then wire it up.

Not sure about the tranny mount, have to take a closer look.

Anyone know any resources I can look at?

Racing Beat makes all the stuff to do the switch; pretty basic iirc.

Its not that tight--the 84-85 GSL-SE had a stock 13B. The 13B is a barely few inches longer than a 12A, thats it. The 86 and later engines have different ports than the 84 and 85. 86-88 had the lightest flywheel, 89-91 has the lightest rotors...revs to 8000 rpm stock. I believe the tranny is basically the same, but the shifter may be different...

should work with no problem, the firewall clearance is supposed to be tight, but it should clear with a hair over 1 inch to spare, you might wanna try to massage the tranny tunnel where it meets the firewal back for nstallation resons though.

Another easier way of doing it would to pick up the latter engine mount for a 1st gen with a 13b, made late 85-86 model years.
