Sandblasting Stock 15\"s

OK-I'm getting my stock 15" rims powder coated. I'm getting em done for $25.00 a wheel but I need to strip them myself. Whats the best media for this??? Silica, Soda,........??

Whos done this with good results?-PS-no chemicals here because of the powdercoating.

Re: Sandblasting Stock 15\"s

Not sure how different the stock 16's are than the 15's. But I was told by the local powdercoater here that they need to be chemicaly stripped because of the powder caoting or the material of the rim. I even had a rim with me and asked why the sandblasting would not work, so he did it to show me. And it put pits in it and made it rough and uneven, like it was removing material from the rim.

Thanks,
I read somewhere that chemically stripping the wheels was bad for powder coating because of the chemicals. Soda or plastic media blasting would do the job without pitting the metal but I'll ask about chemicals tommorow. Thanks again.
