Actually, sandpaper is an excellent method of removing paint defects. Using 80 grit sandpaper isn't.
I recently had some paint problems that required wet sanding to fix. Using 2000 grit sandpaper and baby oil, I was able to completely remove the paint problem. Following up with a rubbing compound completely removed any dulling left by the sandpaper.
Wet sanding paint is a way of acheiving a better finish. Unfortunetly, using 80 grit paper dry is a good way to sand wood, not paint.
