Has anyone else noticed the plethora of cameras being installed at most major intersections? At the Arapahoe Rd and Yosemite intersection, I counted no less than 10 (yes ten) cameras with flashes. I guess Denver all of the sudden decided it needed more income (incase C&D doesn't pass, ya know? hahaha)

All of this has me wondering about what ways we beat the system and avoid having our license plates photographed. I only run a rear plate, but it appears that a lot of these setups get the front and back of your car. Is there any kind of plate cover on the market that is legal, but obscures your plate when they try to photograph it? I don't make a habit out of running red lights, but I'll admit that it does happen occasionally.

if you can hit 170 mph it won't photograph you.
theory proven on Top Gear

The front camera is supposed to take a picture of you driving the car, to avoid the "that wasn't me driving" excuse. I've wondered if wearing a mask or something similar to prevent facial recognition while running the light would enable that excuse to be used.

Yesssssss.......they'll never get me while I am wearing this!

and what about those bright Blue LED lights that are on on some of the traffic light poles? I saw some at the bottom of Lookout Mt. by the houses....on 6th Ave..

when you're at the redlight coming down from the mountain, and want to merge onto 6th and go towards boulder, the blue light is on shining towards you....then when your light is green....the blue light towards you goes off and then a blue light is turned on that's directed towards cars on 6th on their way towards C470/ I 70.

Red light cameras are the norm down here in Phoenix. The setup takes a picture of the front to see who is driving and then one of the rear to get the plates. Phoenix has one of the highest red-light running/fatility rate in the nation, but there are tons of cars running around with the license plate covers that refract light from the side. I am sure they are illegal but it just isn't enforced
Now my oppinion is that everyone that runs a red light deserves a big fat ticket. Here it is a daily occurance that you hear that someone is killed because another person ran a red light. In spring of this year one of my co-workers wife was killed after she was broadsided by a 15 passenger van that ran a redlight. Both their kids where in the back of the car and survived. Back in 1999 or 2000, my mom was nearly killed after someone ran a stop sign, I was perfectly fine in the passenger seat. My mom had internal bleeding from the spleen, luckily it stopped on its own after several hours. Running a red light shouldn't happen occasionally. I know that I haven't driven as long as most others on the board (almost 4 years, probably around 250,000 miles) I have yet to run a red light or Stop sign....ok, done ranting

...and those are about the only 2 laws you haven't broken while driving.
I agree with you though....red light runners do need to be taken care of. I just don't want to be hit up with a fine for something that was either unavoidable or a minor mistake.

That's to help the police who sit at the corners at an angle trying to catch red light runners. The police look at the blue light.Ever notice the aholes who run a light that just turned red by trying to beat the light turning green in the other direction? That's what the blue lights are for.Trust me more f'in intersection wrecks occur b/c of idiots pulling that bs.Personally I'd like to see police allowed to pistol whip the dickheads who pull that [censored]

They have spray you can buy to mask your liscence plate against photo equipment. You dont notice it with the naked eye, but it somehow blocks the camera's ability to get a pic of your numbers....I see it in the back of Car&Driver all the time (everytime I take a dump).

The products were tested by the troubleshooter and the Denver Police Dept. and the spray works the best...its 30 bucks if you feel like giving it a go:

So these cameras, just for red light runners or are there some doing speeders too?
