do you guys think that the tornado would work well? it's one of those products you slap on in the front of your intake tube, it sends parabolic force into your intake system but is not captured by the MAFS. this product is said or advertised to reduce gas milege and increase horsepower. comments?

Its a scam. A study showed that duct tape on the side of the car performs better.

With the help of American Automobile Association's fleet of service trucks, we put all these devices through a month of extensive testing.

"We actually monitor the fuel mileage of these vehicles constantly, so we already had a very established base line to what they are getting," said Don Beyer of AAA.

The "Fuel Saver Pro" is a $65 dollar magnetic gadget that snaps over the fuel line. It's supposed to increase mileage up to 27% by magnetizing fuel and making it more efficient.

A $74 whirling air device called "The Tornado" spins inside the air intake hose. According to a television infomercial, it improves the air fuel mixture which increases mileage.

We paid $90 for the "Super Fuel Max," which turned out to be identical to the first magnetic device we bought -- except it costs about 25 dollars more.

For fun, we slapped some duct tape on a fourth truck.

"We contend that this fuel saving device probably works as well as the others," said Don Beyer.
thanks for the thread that was cool of you to post that its pretty funny i saw the commercial and it looked good
MY GOD! thank you for this information. thank goodness i didn't get put into this trap.
Think about where its going. You are interuppting the air flow. Its the same as sticking anything else in your intake tube, your restricting the flow by letting less air in. And we all know restriction= loss of power and worse gas milage.
i am curious how magnitizing your fuel would make any difference in milage (in this case worse milage)

it goes around your fuel line, not inside of it;./..
You can't magnitize fuel, there's no iron in it.
First off, just because it doesn't have iron in it doesn't mean you can't magnetize it. What determines whether it can be magnetized is the alignment and charge of the molecules. Second, I don't see how magnetizing fule would somehow makes its combustion more efficient, I can't find any chemical reason that would cause that.

Well, it supposedly technically doesnt 'magnetize' the fuel in that sense...It instead supposedly breaks up the hydrocarbon (or something) clusters so that the fuel molecules burn more efficiently...
...I have heard accounts from real people that it doesnt improve mileage any substantial amount (if at all)...But, it supposedly has reduced their emissions, and the carbon/soot buildup on exhaust tips...This wasnt on a PZEV, however...But on a 'dirtier' running engine...
...Take it as you may...I can buy the same device for like $15, and probably make one for $3.00...A roll of duct tape is cheaper, though...

..I thought gasoline contained mostly non-polar molecule?

That is what I thought. If there was something polar it would "stick" to where the magnet was.
I've heard that the magnets are crap.....I've heard that the Tornado flows some nice air when I'm throwing it towards the garbage can....I've also heard that Electric Superchargers are CRAP!
