So its been a few months and the Miata looks a little different now.
The first thing I picked up for it was a hardtop off a '99 in perfect condition, which I scored for a song. The only problem was that it was red!
Then I proceeded to plasti-dip a few things like the chrome gas door and rear striker plates, and also the hardtop.
Tinted all the windows including the windshield with Llumar Airblue 80, and attended Miatapalooza 2013 back in April. The hardtop will eventually get the Airblue 80 treatment as well.
Got an intake kit that relocates the MAF sensor to after the turbo/before the throttle body, which greatly improved power and drivability. Did some dyno pulls before and after and picked up an extra 26hp/25tq. The intake normally has a shroud over the filter with a 3" extension that goes into the fender for cooler air, but we decided to take it off for the dyno.
Got a Harddog Hardcore double diagonal rollbar with padding and leather wrap installed the same day as the dyno runs.
Added some bits to the interior including a boost gauge, a Sparco 320mm steering wheel, and short shifter and textured black shift knob.
Crashed a Focus meet in Sarasota
Then some new brakes
Then finally got around to replacing the worn out Falken 912's and boat anchor 17's with some proper lightweight 15x9's and 225/45 BFG Rivals
Future plans are to upgrade the intercooler and do a full turbo back exhaust, and of course take it to some auto-x and track days.
I still have my Focus, and it gets driven to work
most of the time. :lol:
