Shaving the Hub of a Wheel

I'm considering buying Tim's Monte Carlos, but as they are (17x8 +20), they're too aggressive for my car. Anybody have information on how much I could SAFELY shave off the hub of the wheel to achieve a higher ET?

I have already spoken to Blake about this but wanted to add the info here. I fit 8" ET 20 in the rear with 215/35/18s (and ET23 up front). Definitely doable as is.

I looked at your pictures Matt and that's what convinced me that your balls are bigger than mine.
FIFY

Blake, I'd love to see wider/lower offset wheels on your car.

You will need the lug seats welded up, then you can have about 12mm machined off the back of the mounting pad, then you will need new lug seats drilled. I talked to G about this when he still owned them, but weldcraft doesn't do that kind of work and I didn't know who else to go to without shipping the wheels across the country so I gave up on them.

I don't think that is the look he is going for.

when i was lookign at esm wheels they said for their wheels depending on which model 3-5 mm but then again thats esm wheels . . . but at least u have some kind of idea

NO, you cannot shave the hubs because the the lug holes will be to thin.

Only way you can shave hubs if there is flat backs and only one pattern... Room for a second to be drilled.

Or if you weld up the holes and redrill them. Weldcraft will not do that service, so its not something done with confidence I take.

My wheel refinisher out here does that kind of work.

I'm still not sure why its a hindrance, I say put them on the car and make them fit... pansy.

:p

But Blake, you don't have to.

You do when you're a pessimist like Blake.

Loose gravel.
