My focus is stuck in 4th gear. If feels like it is a shift linkage problem but the linkage is fine? ANyone have an idea what this is?

also it feels as if there arent any gates. The shifter is loose and the linkage seems to be fine.

slave cylinder? blown tranny? sync's bad?? i dunno man,,,those are my guesses

I was thinking broke shift fork maybe? Well i will be pulling the tranny this weekend.

i had the same problem....

what happened was the calbe at the tranny end has an eyelet with a bushing on it....well the bushing split in half...leaving half the bushing on the tranny arm and the other still in the eyelet....i put the cable on and it's been held there with a zip tie for the last 2 months...


bad thing is...you have to replace the entire cables....there is no replacement bushing....oh well

When You say the linkage is fine, how are you checking it? Have You tried physically putting the trans in gear at the trans? The cables can still move and be broken, so it will look like they are fine, but if they are broken, they won't move enough to engage the gears.
