So I am on my way to Brandys house to pick her up and I go to doa slow downshift into 3rd and right as I do I have no feeling in my shifter and I can move it around in circles.
Okay, no biggie, my shift linkage pops off all the time(sad, I know
), so I go to pull over to pop it back on and I reach down and when I grab the linkage, the shift tower itself(the side to side counterweight, top one) comes off in my hand.
The conterweight part(the one with two holes in it with the linkage ball on the bottom) is very very worn away around where the screw hole is(the one that subsequently broke off), WTF?
I see that nothing else is amiss and now my car sits in the parking lot of the school that was across the street.
What on earth happened and why. I haven't been able to shift quick in months as whenever I do the linkage cables pop off(worn out linkage o-ring), so I just haven't been beating on the car as of late(also can't go above 3K rpm as the IAT sensor is screwed).
So, my question is, what the hell happened?
