GT2871R....or GT3071R? Any other turbo recomendations?

The site says the GT2876R is "Best suited for unique applications such as asymmetric turbo installations" and "Not recommended for general performance applications". Randy those are making close to 384hp with just a modified GT28R so the GT2871R probably should be sufficient.

I'm pretty sure he isn't making 384hp with a modified gt28r. I could be wrong but I think he has a HKS turbo which is similar to the GT2871R.

Nope, works perfect. :) Having some tunning issues. Should be figured out soon when Walter returns from out of town.

Sorry HuntinCooter, didn't mean to jack your thread.

I'm really curious to know when the GT2876R reaches full spool. I know they use it in the Uk on the ST170 and the RS for big power. After all it has the same exhaust side as the GT3076R which doesn't really spool all that well on a focus.

Only, using the same compressor side as the GT2871R. If we could get some feed back from a few of the UK guys it would be great. As I'm with you Cooter. I'm still up in the air on which turbo to use.

The GT2871R spools great and gets over 350hp and it says its good for 420hp the GT2876R should spool about the same and make around 430hp

Hmmm, but I'm pretty sure the exhaust on a 2.3 Duratec flows a lot more than an SVT or Zetec. If that makes any difference. :dunno:

The GT2871R is only good for 420crankHP... I maxed mine out at 362whp.

I'm really looking at the GT3071R, which I think will do me fine as I really don't want to see the power below 3500 rpm.

As, It just smokes the tires and eats clutches. Plus have you ever been on a 30degree grade when its raining and just tried to slip the clutch a little?

Its the funnest thing to be going 75mph and not going anywhere. I'm pretty sure I've gone thur more clutch than most of you.

I never had this problem with any other car I have owned and I have the LSD. Just to many hills and rain where I live to enjoy the power any earlier.:bang:

^^ Yep know the feeling 6 clutches in the mushstang... i finally got better traction and clutch longevity when i switched to a more radical cam.... But rain driving with the Falkens is a big no-no.

Wasn't that more due to the fact that you had an engine that was going bye bye?

Makes no difference...... you cant make any more power than what the turbo is rated.

Remember that turbos are rated in PERFECT engine conditions and at the crank so a turbo rated at 420 crank HP isnt going to see 400whp.

Turbos are also typically rated pretty low. For example, the GT35R is rated to 600 horsepower, but reality is that you can pull 650whp out of them.

That said, I would go with a small 30.
