Whats the difference? I cut my shifter a few inches. Is it any different buying a short shifter?

if im not mistaken, a short shiftet kit shortens the throw for faster shifts. a cut stock shifter just shortens the height of the shifter.

yeah cutting the stock shifter just lowers the shifter hieght...you have to get an actualy short throw shifter to shorten the throws

If you cut your stock shifter down you will shorten the throw but probably not as much as a shifter that has the pivot point moved or the bottom half of the shifter extended.


Think about it in extremes..if the stock shifter was 2 feet long can you imagine how long of a throw it would be? Likewise if the shifter ball was just above the pivot point the throw would be super short so shortening the height has a direct effect on the throw.

well, if it's any help, my B&M was shaped exactly the same as the stock one, just shorter, it didn't move the pivot point. so instead of buying a B&M shifter (mine broke) you just saved some money.

but yeah, there are shifters out there that actually move the pivot point.
