No black-out treatment for the HID upgrade. Bummer.

Those headlights are an option South.O.C. The regular SVT headlights will look the same as the 02 SVT.

Why would the SVT have black painted HID Housings? The ST170 didn't, did you expect the SVT to be different?

huh, I thought I would like the color matched hatch trim....but i think on black on red looks better...provides balance between the lower facia and back glass......I had a theory....keep the ZX5 chrome trim and chrome the lower facia. Then chrome the lower front facia. I saw this done on a contour recently and it was pretty cool.

Because the '02 SVT has the black treatment. I am sure that it was just an assumption that that trend would continue. I still like those lights, but I think the money to upgrade to them would be better spent on other mods..

Considering that theory - The ST's would have a painted HID housing also - As the ST170 has the same black treatment our SVT has, on their 'normal' lights - Example:

Euro '02 ST170's(Thameth's SVT)

Normal 2002 Euro Headlamps(Our Car)

Thats all I mean - If the ST's HID's didn't get painted - It obvious that our wouldn't either

svtfocuspower - I also really like the skirts on the '3' - I'm not sure why the '5' doesn't get them - As they should bolt right up

Am i missing something? Why are there still the amber turn signals in the grille? The Mach doesnt have those, they were integrated into the HID headlight...I looked at a mach at the same dealer that i looked at the SVT and there is definitely an amber light in the HID and a solid grille. Is the SVT just going to have 2 ambers??

Here's a thought... It's a prototype, not a final production version. Someone probably put the HID's in and didn't make the extra effort to swap out the grille. I'm sure that production versions with the HID's will not include the turn signals in the grille unless your car gets built on a Friday.

Last I heard, they only had 2 SVT ZX5's running around, this red one that was used for the press photos (and didn't have the HID's at that time) and the silver one that we saw pictures of just before SVT announced production. All of the details might not be ironed out just yet, so there's no need to get all riled up about anything.

BTW: Even the ST170 HID housings are chrome and not black.

Blue Oval, I'm not sure that the process will allow you to get a sonic blue hatch piece as a service part. It is very possible that the hatch piece is now painted in process with the rest of the vehicle. It would probably be a better idea to have yours painted, since there is some variability in color from batch to batch. Having it done by a good paint shop would guarantee a good match.

Yeah, I didn't notice.. those are the standard ZX5 side skirts, aren't they? Man, those are ugly in comparison to the 02SVT's...

SilverSVT themeths grill is also a erou spec part. He had both of them waiting around in the closet till he got his SVT. It's got that cool swing away Ford emblem so you can lock your hood too

How does it look compaired to the grid work on the bumper? I was thinking about doing the same thing but worried it would look like crap when there was two differen grid patterns on the front of the car

The pattern is different, but its literally so difficult to see that it doesn't matter. If your REALLY anal it will bother you. I plan to put on a WRC front bumper anyways later on so hopefully that mesh will match.

Peloton25 you are right as far as this being a preproduction car and what an actual 5 door SVT will look like when it goes into production....Drew, Good job on stirring the pot of what will be the actual SVT 5 door

Well the ST-170 doesn't exactly have the same treatment as the SVT. The ST housings are grey and the SVT obviously black. I figured with the HID set-up on the ST-170/Mach being new that maybe the following year they would be treated to the black housings after supplies of the chrome were depleted.
