THIS IS MY LAST POST. JUST TRADED MY ZX3 FOR A ESCAPE. THE FOCUS WAS A GOOD CAR AS LONG AS IT WAS OUT OF THE SHOP. 4 RECALLS, RACK AND PINON REPLACED, TWO SETS OF SWAY BAR END LINKS, AND CONSTANT NOICE FROM THE REAR END. I DECEIVED IT WAS TIME TO CUT MY LOSES. LATER ...
Why do some people feel the need to make these morose announcements?
If you're involved in this site, you'd never really want to leave even if a Ford Focus was no longer in the driveway.
QuickSilverZX3, you are more than welcome to continue posting here; I believe the only real guideline is an interest in the Focus, not actual ownership.
Having said that, I must take exception to parts of your LAST POST...
I haven't looked for any info on which model year Focus you had, but it sounds like a 2000 or 2001 which suffered some build-quality issues. Hence the recalls...
As far as having the steering rack replaced, unless that was also a recall or a TSB (though steering parts should be recalled if defective), then it may have suffered some abuse at the hands of a previous owner.
Swaybar endlinks? I don't know, those are some pretty simple parts to install and inspect; I suspect someone with not much mechanical aptitude was responsible for that one.
Noise from the rear end? Endlinks, shock absorber mounting points, loose control arm bolt, worn bushings, etc...take your pick; all relatively easy to diagnose and repair.
I think you said that you deceived or were deceived?
About what? Disappointed, maybe. But deceived?
