Spec Focus

I have some news about the name of the Series. The name of the Series will be called Spec Focus (SF), not Focus Cup (FC). You might have already seen that change in the Results a couple weeks ago http://www.mylaps.com/results/newResults.jsp?id=239841.

NASA has decided to save the name Focus Cup for a more "extreme" Focus class in the near future.

On another note, Toyo will be the Spec Tire for the Spec Focus Series. This is a contingency program where drivers can win Toyo Award Points through out the year. http://www.toyo.com/motorsports/

Are going to help us with tire cost and is there a size limit.
Scottishsvt.
It's only contingency sponsor. So, it will not help us with cost (unless you win)
It is for Toyo Award Points only.

The max size you could use is 235/40/17's/. But we found in our test that the 205/40/17s work best with the Dynamic Suspension.

Are you required to run 17" wheels with the SVT brakes? 16"s should be fine and there is a 15" option or two that'll clear the SVT fronts too. Also, is the spec tire the RA-1? The Speed touring series runs the T1-S if I remember right.

They use the ra-1 in 235/40/17 on max 8" rims.

Toyo doesn't make a smaller diameter tire in 16". You're limited to 205/55 or 225/50.
I'm running the 225/50's now. They fit fine, needed some minor fender rolling in front, though that's largely due to 41mm offset.
the 235/40/17's at $50 each have been an eye opener for us

They used to use the T1-S, but switched to the RA-1 a couple of years ago. Hence, the cheapo supply of $50 and $100 takeoffs in 235/40-17.
This is what you can use.

Max Tire Width is 235
Max Tire Size is 17"

Max Wheel Size is 17 x 7

Edit

smaller tires or wheels can not be used.

The Tires will be Toyo RA-1s

Has their been a draft schedule thought of yet or are we still too far out. Are the events going to be mostly West coast or is there going to be a mix?

You would have to check you regional schedule. These are normally done in December.
Remember, this is a regional series, not a National series. But we do plan to have some cross-over events and a National Runoff event as well.
Max Wheel Size is 17 x 7
Sorry to nit-pick, but does that mean that max *width* is 7"? For instance - you couldn't run a 15x8?

Also, is there a some sort of "can't protrude past bodywork" rule for the tires?
Looking at the Toyo Spec sheets... these are the only size tires you could use in the Spec Series.

205/50/15
225/50/15...
They also make a 225/45-15. Is that not allowed?
Here... To make it easy this is what the rules read

Any OEM Ford or Ford Racing with a (17) inch rim, with a maximum width of seven (7) inches is allowed. All four (4) rims must dimensionally match. Toyo Proxes RA-1 must be used. Under no circumstance shall the tire / rim protrude from the body / fender when viewed from above.

Edit.

Only 17" tires and wheels can be used
There's going to be a change on the tire and wheel combos. After talking with Leo, NASA and Toyo,

There’s just too many variables by opening up people using different wheel/tire sizes.
So, this is how the rules will be written. The main reason for this change is because of different weights and final gear ratios. We want everyone on a level playing field.

This means you can only use 17” rims. 15 and 16 inch rims a tires will not be allowed.
I don't know

I'll ask them.
