Have you messed with the battery ground lately? I had loosened the bolt on the batt ground and forgotten to retighten it, it made my gauges freak. Seems unlike my problem, but just a thought.

My speedo went whacko a while back. It would hang at certain points and jump all over.

I had to have thewhole cluster replaced under warranty unfortunately. The whole cluster was broken.

I can't really help you any more than that.

so if i have that problem and im for shur nt under warranty should i just bye one lets say witha tach and more miles than mine and just wait till ihit that mileage

 

Both are fine options.

The dealership should replace it for free if it's under warranty. But it's always a nice excuse to treat yourself to some SVT gauges or something nice like that.

If it's not the battery like the guy mentioned above I'm guessing the cluster is shot, it happens.

You could always take it in and have them make sure it's the cluster. Then decide whether you want them to replace them oryou want to buy a new cluster. I just couldn't stand the jumpy speedo so I got it replaced.

I have experienced a similar problem after removing my defective electroluminescence gauge face from the cluster. The reason was that the speedometer needle was pressed somehow too tight against the gauge face. Opening the instrument cluster and realigning the needle cured the problem.
