Tom covered all the main stuff to do but here is some more stuff that can decrease lag as far as I know...

ball bearing center section turbo
what boost control device you are using
cam gear settings(I think, and only really for a dohc)
make the piping run as straight as possible, eliminate any unnecessary bends
smaller more efficient intercooler
smaller ic piping diameter
make the piping run as short as possible
keep the turbo as close to the head as possible
ceramic coating the outside of the turbo exhaust housing and the manifold
So will doing the combustion chamber and piston tops

Ah ok, thanks for the verification. I wasn't too positive on that. How off would the timimg have to be to affect the spool on those sohc's.


Btw, also forgot a big one to add..

Compression!!!!

, o btw you forgot to mention any leaks between turbo and motor, which i think i might have cuz there is some louder then average noises coming from the manifold, and im using a ball/spring MBC i bought from ebay which is on pretty long hoses, like 2-3 foot each prolly, but if this is a prob with spooling can u explain why? And i have 2.25 exhaust is that to small? Thats also what the downpipe is, again to small? And i dont see how a weak wastegate actuator would affect the spool time, please explain that also, thanks guys...

If the waste gate door is'nt held tightly closed (by the spring in side if the actuator) you could be leaking past the waste gate and out the exshast. In stead of using that energy to push the turbine.
But thats just an idea.
