Bugs are standard equipment on all Neons--have been since '95.
Bugs are standard equipment on all Neons--have been since '95.. So I wouldn't recommend buying one yet. Not until they atleast work out some more of the bugs.
You took that paragraph off some other website...i read that exact paragraph somewhere else....But the test one they brought to us before the srt-4 was on the market had 7k on it and the turbo already burnt up, it dropped the trani and there were a few electrical sensors that whent bad. So I wouldn't recommend buying one yet. Not until they atleast work out some more of the bugs.
No that quote was strate from my mouth(or horses ass witch ever) and yes it was beaten. I am located in central P.A. and the car was regesterd in maryland or some southern state close by, there were some sales men who whent down for some sales course, and they got to drive that vary same one when they where down takeing there class and that was when it had 1k and they said they all beat it.You took that paragraph off some other website...i read that exact paragraph somewhere else....But the test one they brought to us before the srt-4 was on the market had 7k on it and the turbo already burnt up, it dropped the trani and there were a few electrical sensors that whent bad. IMO the srt-4 is a solid car...as for blowing the turbo, and dropping the tranny...it was a TEST car...not production...you must remember that...also OBVIOUSLY the car had the siht kicked out of it during those 7k [wouldn't you on a new car that was fast and not yours?]
There are only a few problems with some of the Mopar automatic transmission and transaxles. You could also consider that Ford itself hasn't been the greatest with some of their automatics. The Chrysler 5 speeds are actually pretty bulletproof for their intended applications unless they get severely abused. A lot of them can still take it quite a bit anyway. Every carmaker has some stuff they do better and worse than others.<snip> the cost had to be cut somewhere, and with Dodge it usually comes in the trannies and the electronics.

while i'm certainly not defending this car, i suspect that this particular Neon got beaten a LOT more than your Focus. i mean, this was a vehicle that tons of different people got to drive for a little bit. they were all probably dropping the clutch at 5,000rpm whenever they could. so this car has probably seen a billion more burnouts compared to your car.No that quote was strate from my mouth(or horses ass witch ever) and yes it was beaten. Even so I have been beating the living [censored] out of my focus and it has 96k in two years. Most of those miles where done above 5k rpms and I just put a trani in it at 85k miles.
BTW I didn't even worry about the brake in period of 3k or what ever it is. I remember doing my first smokey burn out at about 1k. I let the clutch fly at about 5krpm's and ripped the e-brake and sat there and smoked.
So weather or not the vehicle has been beaten does not matter it should still hold up in 7kmiles too the beating of sales man and managers and who ever else drove it.
Just my 2cents
whoa, they gave them a little more power AND a Quaife? that's cool as hell, i wonder how much the price went up?According to Car and Driver:
the 2004 SRT-4 has 15 more hp and 5 more lb/ft
making the power rating now 230hp and 250 lb/ft
the car also now has a Quaife LSD![]()
so waiting is a very good thing
