Ok just got back from my first run at the drag strips. I live in the Phoenix Area so it was about 80 degrees most of the night. This is my first time drag racing and I did 6 runs. Any opinions on how to get them lower?

Not too bad I dont think. I was launching around 4000 RPM and shifting at 7000 RPM. My front tires had 28PSI in them, backs had 30PSI. I wish they could have been in the mid 15's as some people with stock SVT's are reporting. Also how is it I did a 16.400 and went 87.787 mph, and then did a 16.203 and did only 87.429 mph? Kind of doesnt make sense to me that your going slower but running faster? Anyways let me know what you think and any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!?!

Your 60' times tell the tale. That is how you were able to run a faster ET with the same MPH...It looks like you are experienecing a lot of wheel spin or hopping in order to get those type of 60' times...I can normally pop off 2.4's and 2.3's if I am lucky, and thats on stock 16's with about 20 lbs of pressure...Work on your launching technique so you don't just dump it when the 3rd light turns yellow...also if you take out your spare and jack you'll drop a tenth or two...Peace

Not sure, but I would think anything under a 2.2 would be a little fast...Hell I it a 2.1 with my 13 second Maverick....I would say shoot for 2.3 and 2.4 and see where you end up...

Don't worry. As said, practice on that launch. It's all about your 60'.

Your trap speeds show your car's running pretty normal. 87's a decent trap. Get your 60' down and you might even see faster traps.

Good runs regardless. Keep it up!

You also need to be shifting at 7200 instead of 7000. When you shift from 1st at exactly fuel cutoff (7250), you land at 5000RPMs on the tach in 2nd gear. This shift already sucks butt because it's just a tad out of the real power band, but if you shift too early, you are going to end up under 5K which is going to take even longer. The 2nd to 3rd shift at 7250 will put you around 5700, and the shift from 3rd to 4th will put you at 6 even. Well, that is outside the 1/4, but this just goes to show you how important it is to keep the car in the power band.

So that and working on your lunch should get you well you into the mid-high 15s I'm sure
