Hmm...I heard it was 346,987,234.73 mph. You must have the slower version.

 

The reason that the focus tops out around 130 is because of drag, and lack of power not because of a speed limiter. Hope that helps.

I've had mine to 138mph on lowes motor speedway. But I always seem to come up on lap trafic...so never had her wide open yet. And when I was doing 138 I was in turn N-3 and N-4 (N= Nascar)
Im gonna try again this year at the Hyperfest, but hopefully with a supercharger

 

If your car topped out at 130 and wouldnt go any more, you shoul dhave the motor looked at. You should be hitting 135 - 140 - 145 stock.

 

I count 145mph or 233kph....not that I recommend trying it...I'd rather hit 1g in a corner on the track than 150mph on the street

 

Nice, When I was stock I did 135, and No that I have all these mods I have done 135, but rand out of room when I have tryed, I have a vid if you want to see it!

I've heard the gearing would allow you to hit 160 something before redlining, but unless you have some serious power, drag is the killer.

Wouldn't really trust speedo, especially with non-stock size tires.

Use this and punch in your numbers. I have 1.08 6th, with a 3.08 final. 24.5 inches Contis. I get 6588 rpm @ 145.
What size tires are y'all using? 6200 with our final drive isn't quite 145 with 215-45 Conti's. I've found banking really saps power, especially in upper gears.
We had this discussion several months ago. Physics being what they are, 145 lb ft of torque at 5500 kinda limits what we can do top end. I think 134-136 on level ground, alone would be about all you could expect stock.
At VIR last fall, 112-115 on front straight (fairly long) was about it in 5th, couldn't pull any faster in 6th (see torque). TurboTom with 2 x the horsepower/torque was in the 140 range.
Remember torque is what gets you up to speed. Horsepower is what keeps you there. (function of rpm-torque)

Haven't found a formula to factor in testorone levels and how that affects Top End.... yet.

 

I have recently installed a larger gas pedal, and got at least another 5MPH down the straight at VIR.

I think the equation work like this

(Testosterone * Size of gas pedal)/(Shoe size )= Top Speed

 

I hadn't thought about, uh...Gas pedal size for the equation.

 

Ah yes, i love open roads, I have hit 155, bone stock, pretty new too. I love my car.

With the extra HP from the super high zoot CHROMED Carbon fibre CAI, acceleration is instantanious, therefore odometer didn't have time to move. Oh, that and speed shifting into 8th gear, so tach remained the same.

 

Fastest I had mine was at 115mph. Boy does that feel weird on a race coarse for the first time. Lol

When you do the test, the move at the same time, and the speedo never moves that much!!!!

 

After I installed my Chrome muffler bearings, the centrifugal cross-modulator, FocalJet sticker, and the high-performance air was put in my tires, I managed to hit 220! And that was just in the Taco Bell drive-thru!

Used that performance air once. Tried to save weight and only ran 5 lbs of air in each tire. Figured that saved 120 lbs right there!

Going to try and crossdrill/ slot my stick-on carbon fiber dash inserts and see if that helps.

The physics are with you on this one! IIRC in that discussion, weight also played a very small role, so if someone has a gutted out SVT they might reach slightly faster speeds. (but then again, we were talking stock wernt we, heh)

The fastest I went was 125 (according to my speedo, which at those speeds is rarely 100% accurate), and held it for about a solid 10 minutes following a cadillac out of california. That was with the stock contis and I nearly [censored] my pants. I havent felt the need to push it all the way to 136 or so with the new tires, but would feel safer doing it in them, then the contis.
