SVT still alive and kicking?

Winding Road managed to corner Jamal Hameedi, Chief Nameplate Engineer at SVT, at a Ford event in Detroit this morning. Hameedi revealed to WR that nearly all of SVT's resources are busy developing a new truck, and by "truck" he means a "body-on-frame" vehicle. Thus, whether it's a new F-150 Lightning or possibly a different F-Series model, an Explorer, Expedition or Ranger is unkown.

So, no Ford Taurus SHO developed by SVT or SVT Fusion. This kind of makes sense if one considers that the Lightning was supported throughout SVT's reign of terror in the '90s. Hameedi is reportedly extremely excited about the project, saying the finished product "...will blow your mind."

So how do you explain the great success of the Gt500?

SVT vehicles are not for everyone, dont pretend to be or want to be.

Interesting Demograghic from a few years back was the lightning clients made more money than the Cobra owners. They also had less education! Why?

They were company owners

this is just a speculation, but knowing Ford power trains, it will be the Adrenaline Sport Track with the Twin Force D35 - HP between 350 and 415 ... Torque 350 - 390 ft/lbs

Then in 2012 or so, the new F150 will get a TwinForce 6.2l V8 possibly well above 500hp (definitely above 625ft/lbs)

yeah - I liked it too

I would maybe actually like to see the Lightning, but AFAIK Ford has nothing - no engine - that could move the F150 with sufficient authority for SVT badge.

The TwinForce + some SVT tuning, can probably move the SportTrack in a very nice way.

The only thing that I will say is once John Colletti left SVT it hasn't been the same since.Plus it seems that Ford is now using the Shelby name to replace what used to be the performance brand SVT on the Mustangs.

Honestly I do hope that SVT returns back to their glory days but that might be just wishful thinking on my part.
