And yes, they're build numbers. Mazda doesn't advertise the matter but all Mazdaspeeds ( Proteges and MSMs ) are numbered by their VINs, there is a printout available on the Mazda site, IIRC.
Mine happens to be #3900 of 4000.
I need to get some pics up also...just gotta go get them developed and placed on a CD. I want to see how my polarizer filter changed things. Had a blast though!
