From what i understand its a big NO no for a few reasons the refetors do not reflet anymore with alot of tints and thats a safty issue that u will be pulled for also if the tint is too dark it will impare the ability to see the lights when u break so if u do get into a wreck your insurance might not cover your car.

I don't know about oregon, but I have tinted my tails in the past and if your lights are on, you can still see the light, and when you're braking there is no problem in seeing your tails.

Cars come stock with smoked tail lenses, I don't see why adding the same effect would be any different.

Just make sure you get the tint on right. Infact, next time I am smoking my tail lights because at "certain" speeds in rainy weather my static cling came off of one of my tails. I cleaned the tails before applying and there were no air bubbles, but it happened nonetheless. (didn't say the actual speed for obvious reasons, so you really should have no trouble getting them to stay stuck.)

well here's the Oregon state laws:

http://www.leg.state.or.us/orlaws/sess0100.dir/0158ses.htm

and here's what they say about brake lights/rear turn signals:

Brake lights shall emit a light that is plainly visible and capable of being seen and distinguished from a distance of 500 feet to the rear of the vehicle in normal daylight.

Turn signals shall be understandable in normal sunlight and at a distance of 500 feet at night.
so i recommend, tint your tails. go out on a sunny day and try and see if you can see your brake lights & turn signals from 500 ft away. if you can -- you're legal.

print out that section of the OR state laws and keep it in your glove box. if you get pulled over and the officer takes issue with the tint, tell him you've got the statutes with you if he wants to take a look. :D

again, my whole reason for putting together the state laws guide for WA was so you KNEW the laws, and you know if you're in compliance or not. don't take the officer's word for it. they're mostly good people, but there are a few pricks who are looking to screw kids, and your best defense is to know the law yourself.

Umm, I JUST came back from oregon and actually, I went in the MIDDLE of Oregon, no problem, cops didn't give a crap, but mine aren't blacked out, just tinted a little bit, corners and tails, and since Jordan (ZX3Fiero) did it for me, they still show FORD on it, so if cops say anything, I say "It's OEM, look, it says FORD!"

cool, are they done with film or with like nightshade or what?

i'd really like mine to be more ... subdued. i think with tinted windows, tinted tails will make a really consistent visual (and when i finally get my 2nd set of door/hatch trim color matched... it'll be REALLY slick).

Dude Kaduku's are pretty much blacked out I know cause I did them and you need somewhere to paint them that is 72 degrees or hotter like a heated garage or your house or else they will turn out cloudy and you need some serious coats of clear coat. Only spray on a tiny bit at a time it takes like 2 hours to do a really show worthy job. Trust me I do this all the time and I have some blacked out corners at my house if anyone wants them I can send then to you I just need the money for shipping. or if you are local I can bring them to you.
