...and OMG WTF WOW!!!

Yes I did get to launch it!!

That car runs like a raped ape. Off the line and through to 2nd gear was an absolute blast. Turbo lag was nominal but as soon as it was in full boost you better be paying attention to the road ahead of you!

All in all
Two Thumbs Up....WAY UP!!!

Seriously though, I got to see one in action at the dragstrip a cpl weeks ago, and well umm.....

<that sums it up. I loved WRX's, and the STi was flat out awesome. I don't care if the Evo gets praised more, the scooby gets my vote any day. Wish I could drive one.

They are insanely quick, handle great, but... i just...cant...get...over...that...wing...and...interior...look.

(i was looking @ a silver one a few weeks back. ended up getting another focus.)

STi's are the shizzy. Gabe, how do you know what it's like to rape an ape? Hmmmm???

i have some freinds with them, and I they're always nice to take a ride in. And maybe, probably, Im weird but, my favorite thing about them is how the doors dont have a frame above the window. I just think thats cool, are there any other non-convertible cars around that have that?
I HATE the non-framed windows on Suby's. Closing the doors with the windows even only .5 inches down make the car feel like such a cheap one night stand.

Other than that, the STi's are great cars. Great daily drivers.

But I'd take an Evo any day

Was it at a dealership? I still haven't gotten to scoot around in one yet and figured most dealers would make you jump through a couple hoops before throwing you the keys.
The stealership here didn't even ask for my drivers license(i'm 17, and look 16

) when I drove their white STi

ehm, i hate the framless windows on my WRX.. there have been numerous complaints that after/during rain, when you open the door the water drips onto the edge of the seats and stains them - particularly with the 04+ models like I have. big pain in the arse.. plus they make the car more prone to break ins.

My mom's Forester has windows like that. I always have to yell at my brother cuz he likes to close the door by grabbing onto the window

come to think of it, i believe my 87 RX-7 had doors like that

Which dealership (or was it one)? I still haven't gotten to scoot in one, and wouldn't mind seeing how they feel. I figure the price should go down a little now that they are no longer the cheapest 300hp vehicle in the US market (GT even loaded is still thousands less and more torquey).

If you are still in Houston....stop by John Eagle Honda at 290 and West Rd. I will take you for a spin in it!

BTW...you cant drive it unless you bring that fabled zx3 out so I can finally get a look at it after 5 frikkin years!

Well, i have yet to run mine at the track...but most run very low 13's. If you head onto some of the Suby boards...there are a good amount of people who do very high 12's out of the box. Driving/launching the car gets tricky sometimes. I guess it all depends on the driver. Whats nice about these cars is they have 8.2:1 compression and are a 2.5L. There are quite a few people making 500hp+ on 94 octane.....and thats my plan sooner or later

Yes, the new Mustang is a great looking, well priced 300hp RWD car that I could only drive 8 months of the year in MN. The Rex STi is a 300 hp AWD that I could drive every freakn' day of the year, unless the snow is over 12"!
Cheers.

Good point. Being in Houston with 65oF winters (shiver... high of 79o on Monday though) and long flat roads, I sometimes forget that its possible to come across conditions worse than rain and an occasional pothole.

Around here you could drive a slammed NSX pretty much all year (as long as you get the windows tinted and the AC didn't go out). A bunch of suspension travel and AWD means you are heading out mudding in your pickup.

New MINI's are frameless, New Mustang is frameless, Audi TT is frameless. I know this because they all have the windows that will slide up or down a quarter of an inch to releive pressure when closing the doors.
