I was discussing the Focus and it's potential with an associate of mine recently, and he brought to light the fact that the aftermarket has truly embraced our vehicles.

Case in point: Look at how many true, 'sorted out' (and tuned) forced induction kits there are available for our cars: JRSC, Powerworks, Vortec, FocusSport, ProCharger, Roush (and a couple more, I'm a little low on blood sugar at the moment). We've got the powerhouse of Cosworth embracing the Duratecs as well.

Not to mention all the other goodies you can get from the likes of Steeda, Draxas, Marcy Motorsports, F2, FocusSport, etc. And then there's all the suspension bits too!

These are all companies that have invested tens of thousands of dollars (and more) into their Focus programs, because they realize that the Focus is the next 'Civic'. Our cars are NOT going to go away! Even when the new Si hits the street, there still won't be such a broad spectrum for them like we have. Sure, there might be a JRSC for it, maybe a Vortec, and of course a couple of turbo kits costing $6k and up, but it's sure evident that our market is a head above (and a bit more organized) when it comes to available performance.

What I see -- Focus owners want bang for the buck. Yeah, they're cheap bastiges, but they're also more into the 'go' along with the 'show'. You want clean styling, great handling, and horsepower. You want quality parts.

The best thing is that someone 'new' can join FJ and become educated correctly -- this isn't like some other forums out there where you see: 'yeah I bolted up this big Brand X turbo at 20psi and ran a huge shot of NOS like my buddy did and blew up my motor blah blah blah....'

What I see on The Jet -- We want performance. We want to see dyno numbers. We want to make an informed decision before we purchase parts. (and some of us will even give test drives of our cars to people on the fence).

I gotta hand it to ya, this place rocks.

What a nice, positive bunch of thoughts.
I tend to agree.

What TRULY blows me away is the MASSIVE array of suspension components available... and the wide array for folks to test them out.

I just wish Ford would embrace us a bit more... can't get a 2.3 in the hatch? C'mon already...

And I really appreciate (honestly) the fact that someone there listened to us and tried to give us a more Euro-looking facelift, but it would have been cooler to just give us the 2002 Euro lights, not ones that kinda look like them. And above all, we might have gotten a car that LOOKS more euro, but it's still sucky to know that what was supposed to be a "world" car turned into an Escort scenario where we get the crappy version and Europe gets kickass versions.

But that aside, from an aftermarket standpoint, you're absolutely right

Would be REALLY nice if [FJ]could get an official rep from FMC to regularly participate on the boards & relay some of the content as valuable info back to the powers that be.

But yes, I agree with everything said. I've come far in my previously non-existant knowlege of cars, since I've been reading here.

nice post and i agree except in one aspect....i hope the focus is not the next civic...as ****y as those owners are and as bad as they sound....there are plenty of aftermarket parts you are right...but we will always be above the civic owners

Great write up! I do have to agree with "Jared" though. I too wish Ford would step up to the plate more in regards to the Focus. I mean they don't have to go "all out" like the SRT4, Evo or WRX, but offer us some of the nice European goodies they already have engineered & built. Were not asking them to hit the CAD machines come up with brand new parts, they are already there! By the way Kris, hats off to you & your husband. It is people like yourselves that greatly help in the marketing and promoting of this great little car. With all of your hard work, (Sponge Bob, Pro-DTM sedan & of course the very nice CosWagon), you have proven again & again what the capabilites of this car are. From both aesthetic & performance view points. Again thanks for the wonderful posting & I can't wait to see what you guys come with next!!!

Too bad Ford doesnt just cut the middle-man and give us a focus we REALLY want. If they did that, Im sure it would gain a lot more respect and even more companies would jump on the bandwagon.

I like the companies on this board who provide feedback to your questions about their products! Most companies you would have to call, wait on hold, then get an answer that makes no sense and they hang up! It is comforting to know the aftermarket companies have such good customer service

Good thread!

Of course everybody should also applaud one of the biggest companies that has made the focus what it is in the aftermarket and has set the benchmark for all other aftermarket companies to follow!

Go FocusSport!

Thanx for your years of incredible support to the Focus and Focaljet!

Great post Kris.
I wish that I still had mine as there are so many new products out there. And to think that I was getting ready to break into the 14's and was getting the hang of autoxing. I miss my Green Machine.
